Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Of course i have seen many post here about benefits of 100k Ohms loading instead of 47k Ohms (for most MMs discovered here), but seems like only a few manufacturers, like Shinagawa Musen Corporation (Grace), recommended 100k Ohms from the start (w...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
How exactly does one load a cartridge at 100kOhms? Especially on existing phono stage wich does not allow to change the loading. Good question! Enyone can explain, plz?I wish to hear my Grace F9F and F9U cartridges at recommended by the manufactu...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Dear all, while the low impedance STANTON 980 LZS on my Luxman TA-1 arm with ZYX CPP-1 pre-preamp sounds great, i prefer SC100 WOS for the ease of use with mm phono stage. Since i have NOS spare styli for CS100 and they are not compatible with 980...
What is more accurate: magnetic anti-skating, or barrel weight attached a fishline?
@nandric  Dear chakster, I prefer the Lustre 801. Excelent tonearm but withmediocre lift construction. And, as Raul already recommended, thecounterweight(s) should be used in the usual way avoiding magneticVTF adjustment. This way the counterweig...

Yeah, it's definitely a mismatch then, thanks for the link. Luckily i have another spare never opened NOS original sealed CS100 stylus, no need for pickering styli.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@fleib well, original D98S stylus from 980LZS cartridge on Stanton CS100 WOS does not make and improvement. It's detailed and so ... But output with this stylus is much lower and the sound is not so rich and full-bodied as with the original sapphi...

@nandric Do you like Sony PUA 286 tonearm more than Lustre 801?
Miyajima MADAKE experience
@ilikmangos i’m curious which "the best of the best" cartridges do you mean, can you recall some of them? It will help to understand how good is the Miyajima Madake.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@rauliruegas there you are comparing oranges vs apples: two different tonearms with different internal wiring, two different TTs and two cartridges with way different output and different needs because of this. Yes, but even on cheaper Luxman TA-1...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Chakster,Interesting post. The CS 100 has the lowest inductance of the Stanton HOMMs. Is the D81/91 stylus interchangeable with the CS100 ?Hi Fleib, I think they are, but i haven’t tried to change the stili, i’m gonna try soon.Concerning the LZ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Dear all, there is one missing MM cartridge in this thread is worth to try:My STANTON CS100 W.O.S. has arrived not so long ago. I really like the character of this rare cartridge! Mounted on Luxman TA-1 tonearm on Luxman PD-444 turntable (with Sae...

Hi Musicgene, do you have/had any other MC cartridges surpassed by Kansui or anything else sounds close to Kansui character?
What is Technics thinking?
I’m sorry, but Denon DL103R on stock Technics SL1210 tonearm is a total mismatch. Low compliance MC Denon 103R works fine only on high mass tonearms. Technics stock arm is ok for MM cartridges of medium compliance, it can handle 30cu compliance ca...

@audiolabyrinth  seems audiophiles on this thread do not talk much,  not sure why? depends on the thread, look for Raul's thread :)
