Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
@jollytinker  If you read Arthur Salvatore's description of the Zyx Universe II, he's nearly in tears on first listening to it because the cart sounds so awful. And yet by 50 hours it's the finest cartridge he has ever heard. that's a pretty radi...
New Technics SL 1200 GAE
@andysf I don’t find the looks of the SP 10 to be more attractive, in any case. Really? Maybe the stock technics obsidian plinth is not attractive at all, but if you put your SP-10mk2 in a good wooden plinth (like i did with mine, click here) i...
New Technics SL 1200 GAE
@dave_72  ok cool, i'll check out the 1200gr for around 2k. however, the 1210 m5g does have better tonearm wiring and phono cable as well as an improved tonearm... It's the same tonearm. Rewing of the stock Technics cost under $25 for Cardsa ton...
New Technics SL 1200 GAE
It is completely different turntable compared to classic mk2, mk3d, mk5g versions. Even the DIY upgraded mk2 can easily surpass your stock mk5g, there is nothing special in mk5g, it is still the same mk2 in general. But the latest Technics turntab...

@melm  My experience with a new Art-9 was that it showed its basic attributes from day one.  It has improved ever since.   Exactly, that's what i mean. Cartridge that doesn't sounds right after 20-30 hrs of burn-in time will not change it's BASI...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I’d like to get back to discussion about wonderful Grace cartridges. I’m a bit surprised to discover (sorry i’m late) that popular Ruby version of F9 has conventional elliptical profile, same as F-9E. So the difference between F-9E and F9-E Ruby i...
Low/Mid price cartridge for Origin Live Conqueror 12"
@smctigue1 no, but i remember Raul also prefered the Elliptical for some reason. Anyway, my favorite MM cartridges are far away from elliptical, they are Stereohedron (Stanton SC100 WOS), Shibata (JVC x1 and x1II), Line Contact (AT-ML 170 and 180)...
Low/Mid price cartridge for Origin Live Conqueror 12"
Strange, i’ve never had any problems with ortofon M20FL, but it was like new.You can read so many feedbacks about this or any other cartridges i have mentioned above right here on audiogon. Why not just replace the cable for low capacitance? If yo...
Low/Mid price cartridge for Origin Live Conqueror 12"
Ortofon M20FL (Fine Line Stylus) would be great and will put new Ortofon 2M to shame. Just stay off the modern MM cartridges, if you want to spend less to get much much better performance look for top vintage MMs. If you’re lucky you can find NOS ...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
@oregonpapa New: Pinched sound stage, aggressive highs, bloated bass, recessed mid-range and non-involving emotionally. Broken in: Sound stage wide open with amazing 3-D imaging, soaring highs, tunefully correct bass lines, super present mid-rang...

@pani My friends have it on Jelco 9" and the big Thomas Schick tonearms. Starange choice of the arms for this cartridge, even lower compliance ART2000 doesn’t sounds right on my Schick tonearm, but the ART9 has higher compliance (18 @ 100 Hz) t...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
@rantzmar Chakster....Some guys who can hear simply write down what they hear and experience at the moment and revisit the notes later in the appropriate listening session. But the key...You have to be able to hear. That makes sense if you are M...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
I wonder how do you guys remember the sound of the first 20-50 hrs after 500 hrs of listening without direct A/B comparison test? After 500 hrs you can not come back to the sound you got in the beggining, so it is all just an illusion of our fault...
SPU Gold Reference vs Silver Meister vs Synergy?
@prcinka  if you go to theartof sound forum and type there you can find the whole chart for any SPU cartridges under the thread by "fordy" SPU Spirit...The wire is 8N copper for the coils... Ortofon SPU SPIRIT is an interesting cartridge, but vi...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@bimasta But if you’re right, and there’s an old model Shure with low compliance, a clear departure from their standard design principle, then I’d certainly like to learn more about it! Yes, it is probably a BIG low compliance (9cu) classic broad...
