Old vs. new
@cleeds  You're mistaken - there are several companies manufacturing new pressing machines, such as Viryl and Record Pressing Machines.  And who use them ?
What separate tube phono stage do you use ?
Why tube?

@fleschler  Chakster - I use a 12 year old Benz Ruby 3. Is that considered a vintage cartridge today?  No, it's not a vintage cartridge. They are all from the XX centuryI had a Dynavector Ruby 23r back in its day. It was both relatively neutral...

The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
@daveyf  so if I am able to buy the very same cartridge at retail for 1/2 the price in Japan and the US dealer is asking for twice that price here in the states, having shipped over the cartridge at some enormous shipping price,(if you believe th...
Old vs. new
@richier31  The vintage ears from then are not the ears from now. I like vintage sound but do not relate to it as beter but different.   Really? Simply compare original pressing of some properly recorded LPs from the 70s to modern reissues of th...
Tonearms: Ripoff?
A bit more resolving (or not) just for extra $10k (or even extra $50k) compared to the Technics EPA-100 mkII, Fidelity-Research FR-64fx and FR-64s, Lustre GST-801, Micro Seiki MAX series and many more highly regarded vintage high-end toneamrs.
The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
It sounds like a joke when a buyer of $5-15000 cartridge can't even mount it himself. If a buyer have zero experience with cheaper cartridges then why this buyer is looking for such expensive toys ? It's absurd.
Old vs. new
Reissue can be good only if the label sourced original master tape, most of the reissues are indeed made from a digital source. A few lables will tell us what was the source even when they are do a "180g audiophile pressing". So, in general it mak...

@tzh21y  the PD-444 does look very interesting except it would not fit on many stands.  Its over 26 inches long.   I just made custom iron racks for my pair of PD-444

Consider a cartridge by Hana; they are said to be outstanding and for petite cash. Hanna made by Excel Sound in Japan, this is an old OEM manufacturer, Mr.Fremer visited them and made a video, watch it here.

No, it's not the same.As you know it's easy to find turntables designed for use with one tonearm on the right side, but it's very difficult to find a nice and good looking turntable designed for two tonearm, especially very long 12 inch tonearms. ...

@tzh21y if you post addressed to me then i know that you're happy with GAE, so personally you don't need anything else. I have no idea when you discovered Technics DD for yourself, i did it back in 1995 and bought my first Technics SL1210mkII betw...
