Retip for zyx
@tooblue  the picture of the cantilever/stylus assembly you posted is for which ZYX? Thanks for posting that, a picture is worth a 1,000 words.  That was a picture of my ZYX Airy III, but you will find same cantilever construction even on their t...
Cartridge recommendations
My advice from the start was Pickering XSV-3000 with nude Stereohedron stylus, this MM cart (along with Stanton 881s mkII) is a clear winner imo! Not as cheap as they were years ago, but still bargains compared to what they can do for $300-400.

@tooblue  @chakster,@nandric, you two guys never get tired of saying the same thing over and over again, for what it is worth, I got it as everyone else probably has got it as well, point made, now let's move on. right, i wish we could stop   ...
Retip for zyx
@nandric that's fine, i just don't want to re-tip of rebuild any of my cartridges until i will find the one which i want to keep forever. There are always a cartridges i want to try, so i think it will never happen. Also i have some carts that i h...
The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
@lewm Chakster, That photo of the cantilever/stylus on your Airy III is quite interesting. Didn’t Nandric indicate that pressure fitting of stylus to cantilever can only be done with an aluminum cantilever? Yet ZYX uses boron, I think. Or am I in...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
@glupson One more thing. If it is fun you are in this for, and I believe you are and you should be, exploring digital may be a good idea. Give it a chance. You can keep your analog everything and start playing with digital. I don’t think it’s a ...

@nandric "the same" is what on the picture, "the hybrid" is what you have from Axel. I believe you have not even tried the original ZYX (did you?), what you have is not a ZYX, but no doubt that it’s still an MC cartridge that you can use, maybe yo...
technics 1200G tonearm effective mass 12 grams?
@bdp24  but high compliance cartridges need less mass
Retip for zyx
This is original ZYX cantilever with original MicroRidge stylus tip. No one can do the same, re-tipped or re-cantilevered ZYX is no longer ZYX cartridge, but some sort of hybrid with different sound.

Big brother watching us :)
Boron Cantilever and Ruby Cantilever, Why Ruby?
@hdm my understanding is that some glue is probably used even in situations where the stylus is mounted and attached literally through a hole in the cantilever Right, i will add pictures for you to compare retipped (glued) diamonds to the origin...

@glupson Vinyl is a copy, too. It is not the original source. This is analog copy, not a digital copy (in technical terms). But original Vinyl is an art form, created by musicians for us (buyers) at the time when it was actual for them. This is a...
Boron Cantilever and Ruby Cantilever, Why Ruby?
I will repeat it again just to leave it here:This is original ZYX Boron cantilever of the Airy III cartridge, picture taken on my macro lens. Look at the stylus. The stylus itself is not glued to the cantilever as you can see. The cantilever mater...

technics 1200G tonearm effective mass 12 grams?
Yeah, Technics EPA-100 ('10.5 inch) tonearm was great with its unique counterweight to deal with cartridges with difference compliance. The EPA-100 mkII is the best Technisc ever made. New tonearms does not have that opion for some reason :(  I c...
