How much difference will a phono stage upgrade make?
You'll see that Kevin Deal highly recommends the Chinook with the Primaluna as a good match. Kevin Deal is a tube dealer, what else he can recommend? He also a dealer of Manley Lab. gear. Gold Note PH-10 is a new generation of SS phono stages...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@travbrow Chakster, I loved the ML170 I once owned. I bought it used for around $200.00. Eventually One channel went dead, I managed to get it apart and the hair thin wire of one coil was detached and I couldn’t get it resoldered. Got frustrated ...
stanton str 8 80 ?
Yes, i dislike Stanton Group products, but i like the Stanton Magnetics Inc produsts. Two different companies from two different eras. Not everyone clearly understand it. I'm just trying to put the things together: cheap DJ turnable, Short tonearm...
stanton str 8 80 ?
It’s funny to compare extremely expensive ViV Rigid Float tonearm (price tag is over $2k) to cheap as chips Stanton tonearm with price tag under $100. They are designed for two different audience, completely different. ViV is for critical audiophi...
stanton str 8 80 ?
You'd better ask Stanton Tech about tonearm geometry, null points and cartridge alignment with this short straight tonearm with no offset angle. Stanton was a good company until its founder Walter O. Stanton retired and sold it in the 90's. Since ...
stanton str 8 80 ?
"On small arm" ? What are you talking about ?Your Stanton turntable has a very short and straight arm with no offset angle at all. This is very strange decision, despite the fact that this is a turntable for teenagers wanna be a djs. I’m sure you ...
Very impressed with my stylus upgrade.
Is Ortofon using a marketing ploy in forcing a body upgrade as well when changing stylus? YesAt the the end isn’t the stylus the most important part of analog playback above all else? If you’re using different styli on the same cartridge body the...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
The AT-ML 180 OCC or OFC is clearly much better cartridge than original Technics EPC-205c mk4. Here is a pair of my 205c mk4 , i also tried Jico SAS Boron on it and also had refurbished 205c mk4 by Axel. So have tried every possible variation of 2...
What's your go-to cheapie cartridge?
The best Grado stylus for any Grado Black, Gold etc cartridge body is XTZ, huge upgrade, but expensive. The XTZ was designed by Joseph Grado for his Signature Grado XTZ cartridge (discountinued model), but the styli still available from Grado.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Someone has to buy that ATN180 stylus, it's extremely rare and almost impossible to find. And even if you don't have a cartridge generator (budy), you can have mine to add the stylus on :)
Stanton Cartridge CRAZ 520 SK question
There are actually hundreds of better Hi-Fi cartridges to choose and i would never start from any MC, just Moving Magnet or Moving Iron with removable style ONLY.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@travbrow  Chakster, I’ve owned a few Technics with BORON pipe cantilever and they were very good. Yes they can suffer suspension collapse. I owned a Technics P205CMKIV  with bad suspension and sent it to that guy in Germany (along with a Technic...
Technics SL-1700 feet
I am using Isonoe, what are you trying to say, have you ever tried/seen them? They can be screwed in any technics as the direct replacement of the stock feet (which is a junk even on SH-10B3 obsidian plinth). For any other equipment (CD players et...
Stanton Cartridge CRAZ 520 SK question
You are probably talking about signature DJ Craze cartridge made by Stanton about 20 years ago. You can use it if the stylus is not worn out. This is a professional model for DJing. "SK" is most likely Skratch, well it must be conical tip designed...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@travbrow  Chakster, most of those cartridges you mentioned are hard to find and mostly not cheap. I’ve recently seen a USED ATML180 for $1400.00! Most of the cartridges I bought were under $200.00. I like finding bargains like the last one I bou...
