Technics SL-1700 feet
@nandric i don't want to impress anyone, but at least you should know that The AT-616 support from 10 to 60 kg, look here. These type of pneumatic footers can be placed not only under any turntable directly (or dac, cd player or whatever ) ... but...
Advice on SUT for Koetsu Rosewood - EAR MC-4, Slagle/EMIA, other
@mijostyn i think we have many good SUTs available today, but the prices are sick for many of them. An old japanese SUTs are great and very cheap compared to modern SUTs, so i’m happy with my Luxman 3 in one.
High output MC cartridges
@dpetri had at least 3 nice high output cartridges and enjoyed them too, but in A/B comparison to my top MM/MI they can't win the contest.
Technics SL-1700 feet
@nandric I substituted those with AT 636 footers under my Obsidian plinthand SP 10,mk2 . I assume that chakster’ s are bigger but notnecessary better. Now when i have the manual for both models i can tell you they are completely different intern...
High output MC cartridges
I have also used mm cartridges and prefer the HOMC. MM cartridges are not the same, maybe your MM was bad if you prefer HOMC. My experience is opposite, a decent MM is always better than High Output MC. Also stylus wear and required re-tipping s...
Moving Iron Carts or stick with LOMC
@totem395 when i swapped the original styli between low impedance (low output) Stanton 980-LZS and normal output Stanton SC-100 WOS i realized they are not interchangeable in terms of sound, it was a total miss match, but physically it was no prob...
Advice on SUT for Koetsu Rosewood - EAR MC-4, Slagle/EMIA, other
Which the above answers my thoughts that in the ideal world the SUT would be built and tailored exactly to the cartridge in question.Makes it a bit of a pain if you swap carts a lot though...... I can just swap SUTs for almost any LOMC because sm...
High output MC cartridges
Am interested in your opinion as just to what you’d classify as killer MM, & the best NOS cantilevers and styli are? Over the years many audiogon members discovered the best MM/MI cartridges, exact models provided by the contributors of this ...
High output MC cartridges
Some decent IM/MI cartridges are much cheaper than SoundSmith. For example: ADC TRX-2 with Sapprire cantilever and Vital III PH diamond.Designed by Nakatsuka-San (now ZYX) for ADC back in the day. Also some absolutely killer MM cartridges can be fo...
Advice on SUT for Koetsu Rosewood - EAR MC-4, Slagle/EMIA, other
@intactaudio  47K is a silly value for the input of a phono stage when considering a SUT. Selecting a turns ratio on the reflected load of that 47K is misguided. I install a 300K at the input of my LR phono and I believe shindo used 100K so no e...
Moving Iron Carts or stick with LOMC
@totem395 Fake styli must be avoided as none of them have Stereohedron Nude Diamond. Hope yours are originals. If you’re using a stylus from XSV series on XLZ series then i don’t think it’s a good idea. But i don’t have XSV-5000 anyway, i have XLZ...
Moving Iron Carts or stick with LOMC
Another benefit of MI: NON SENSITIVE TO CAPACITIVE LOAD
Moving Iron Carts or stick with LOMC
There are some very interesting low impedance low output MM cartridges made by Pickering, those cartridges must be used with headamp or MC phono stage. I've managed to buy very rare luxury Pickering XLZ-4500s and XLZ-7500s, both with Stereohedron ...
High output MC cartridges
I had wonderful experience with various Dynavector cartridges including rare HOMC DV30A, but the most impressive were LOMC like 17DS and 23RS MR, now i have NOS 17D2 on the shelf
High output MC cartridges
Grado + Rega + Oracle = hum. I liked the Grado, minus the hum, but I liked my Grace F9 better. My Grado is dead quiet just like any cartridge from my big collection of Grace. If you like F-9 then LC-OFC versions of the F14 and LEVEL II is the way t...
