Mat for Rega P10
I know Framer recommended the Stein Music The Perfect Interface Carbon mat but $625 for mat is quite steep I think. Even the cheapest one is $250 and I do not consider It a bargain. This one from Sakura Systems is the latest version of Boston Audi...
Turntable feedback rumble problems with new sub
LOLSpeakers and turntables shouldn't be on the same surface (console). Speakers on a proper stand on spikes Your turntable already have a very nice Isonoe feet
Does it improve the sound of a MM or MI cartridge by playing it through a phono stage?
You can easily find and buy a better phono stage for MM or MC cartridges and the price will tell you nothing. Everything is easy with MM or MI cartridges, they are fine with almost any phono stage (technically) designed to accommodate an MM cartri...
Turntable feedback rumble problems with new sub
If you have Isonoe it should be fine even if there is 10 000 Watt speakers near. Do not screw Isonoe tightly to the Technics cabinet you will kill its spring effect. It must be like this. Move your SUB somewhere (away from the turntable).
Does it improve the sound of a MM or MI cartridge by playing it through a phono stage?
Not sure about your question... You can use High Output MC cartridge with MM phono stage. You can also use low impedance (very low output) MM/MI with MC phono stage or headamp or even SUT. But you can’t use conventional MM/MI with MC phono stage b...
SoundSmith Sapphire cantilever upgrade to CA Virtuoso?
Normally people refurbish MC cartridges with SoundSmith, except for a few very popular vintage MM models where the original Ruby cantilever was an option from the manufacturer back in the day. Grace cartridges for example. There was an original Gr...
Will a $700 turntable outperform a CD player?
@dsper When you compare DAC and hi-fi turntable the music itself is important, on vinyl you must have original pressing of the well recorded albums from the analog era (recorded and mastered in analog). Those albums are pure magic, if your system...
Buying a new TT today
Chakster - "It is not about saving as you can see, but when it comes to the price for some new equipment it is simply insane (a cartridge for $5k for example or even higher, a phono stage for $10k, a turntable for $20k ... etc)." As I said it is...
Will a $700 turntable outperform a CD player?
@cal91 As a retiree that’s a little insulting. But in my case it’s also true. I am a candidate for knee replacement and I have no desire to sit through several songs I don’t want to hear to get to the song I do want to hear. With CDs I can touch ...
SoundSmith Sapphire cantilever upgrade to CA Virtuoso?
Buy another (better) cartridge if you want to upgrade, refurbished MM cartridge is nonsence in my opinion. For the budget of Clear Audio you could find Grace Level II with original Ruby or even Boron/MicroRidge stylus. Did you destroy that unprote...
Choice of Phono Cartridges
I remember Peter Ledermann (SoundSmith) has mentioned Walter Stanton MI design and some other cartridges when i asked him about clever design from the past. Regarding cartridge and tonearm systems resonance frequency, Richard, you have to read thi...
Choice of Phono Cartridges
Unfortunately they are all fragile, even those short gemstone cantilevers (the most exoensive). According to cartridge designer (Mr. Reto Adrioli of the Bluelectric) the aluminum is the best to work with. Japanese school of cartridge designers is ...
Choice of Phono Cartridges
How many MM cartridges even with Boron Rod cantilever anyone can find today and for what price? It's amazing that SONY made one with Boron Pipe (The XL-50 MM) long time ago in the 80's. Back in the days SONY established Sony Sound Tec Corporation ...
Buying a new TT today
@cd318 I watched those videos long time ago, who will buy a $200k turntable? I have no idea who told you this is the best turntable ever made ? Try this or this version. When the difference in sound is very small but the difference in price is ver...
