Is Supratek Syrah still the deal of the century?
How many "deals of the century" can there be, it hasnt been 100 yrs and yet these claims pop up every few months, in 6-12 months I wonder what the new deal of the century will be.
Can you imagine a world without vinyl?
It would be harder to imagine a world without the Compact Disc than Vinyl....yeah vinyl sounds good but is difficult and expensive to get the performance and ease you get with even an average CD player. Also having Disc players in cars and portabl...
Using a projector for Blu-Ray or HD DVD
Less on projector, while the image is large its blacks and overall color washout cant compete, the best image obtainable is still the old glas tube but they dont get bigger than around 34 inches.
Best Mid-Priced DVD/SACD/DVD-A/HDCD Player?
Yes you can use both dig outs atleast on ones I have used in the past. I dunno if $1200 is too much but the Lexicon RT10 is a pretty nice all around performer, my dad just gave me his when he stepped up to Esoteric and it sounds pretty damn good, ...
Tube pre-amp pop
Boy I want to say it sounds like you run really efficient speakers but Paradigms are not overly efficient, I had 98db efficient Innersound Electrostats and I could hear everything and it always bothered me. My current VMPS speakers are I think 92d...
Unpredictable digital problems with movies?
My cable has done it also now that you mention it, I held the button in to re-boot it, Rotel claims no issue ever but I take that with a big glass of "yea right"
Unpredictable digital problems with movies?
thanks for the reply. I called Lexicon, no upgrades.again this isnt the players fault as I had same issue with my last player...so it has to be a Rotel issue, but they plead ignorance.
How big should center spkr be to set to "large"?
Good Point CD, I pretty much feel the THX is for the "Big Box" Retail crowd and anyone with more than a basic knowledge of HT and equipment would dismiss it as only being rookie relevant.
Unpredictable digital problems with movies?
Another friend mentioned the DTS problem, if I tell the Lexicon to down convert DTS to PCM would that make any sense, neither the Lexicon or the Rotel will allow me to totally disregard DTS wich was my first thought. I did listen using the Analog ...
How big should center spkr be to set to "large"?
Yes it is a good starting point but lets look at just why that is? I feel it was simply for the benefit of speaker manufactures, can you imagine small speakers that had good WAF if Lucas choose 60hz, 50hz? It is simply my opinion but I think that ...
Unpredictable digital problems with movies?
Well this is probably a stupid idea and who knows if it will help but I hooked up a Monarchy DIP just for the sake of trying it........so far no issues, if this helps I wont know why. The disc I was playing was "The Incredibles" and it has 2 discs...
How big should center spkr be to set to "large"?
It is always best to set your speakers lower if they can handle it... 80hz was invented by Lucas films...they made the law but that doesnt mean you need to follow them.
Questions regarding Sunfire Cinema Grand setup
Alot of us have 2 channel tube pre's hooked up to our dual use HT systems and for movies you wont notice it.
Unpredictable digital problems with movies?
No pirate or rented DVD movies here, it was playing in dolby digital EX not DTS, its funny you mention layer change as I almost added to my original post I thought maybe it happens at chapter change. I had this issue with a Samsung HD841 and had i...
Classe SSP-300, Rotel RSP-1098, Lexicon MC-8, Best
I have the RSP1068, the major upgrade to the 1098 for my needs was the video screen wich makes no sense to me, it is too small to be of any real use so why muddy up the internals with more video crap? My dad has the MC8 (un-balanced) and it is a b...
