BLUE CIRCLE NSCS+SPENDOR S5E OR S8E?
Hi Lioryes, i would say so...in addition to the MF A5 (250 watts), i've run them with a 70 watt Arcam AVR200 to great effect...no sense of strain, however, prior to the rogue 150's i first tried a Conrad Johnson MV60SE tube amp and there was a lac...
BLUE CIRCLE NSCS+SPENDOR S5E OR S8E?
just chiming in to say choose the s8e's over the s5e's if you can...i traded up after 4 mo with the s5e's...the 8's cast a much greater soundstage and play with a lot more ease! i've used musical fidelity's a5 with great results...now i am on to r...
Building your own high end turntable stand?
i agree with the wall mount...but if you are like me that is an impossiblity with the Mrs. of the house! in any event i built one using 3/4-10 threaded rod and maple cutting boards...that might sound crude but it came together well...i went to a l...
Does your system always sound good?
i am a firm believer in warm electronics sounding the components best...i've started turning on the equipment when i get home from work for listening that may or maynot take place that evening. also, i noticed evening listening is more sonically p...
Looking for headphones, any suggestions?
I believe there are several online sources with 30 trials...headphone.com, audioadvisor.com to name two. Everyone here has given great advise...as someone who has listened to headphones for many years the truth is that many brands sound fantastic ...
Headphone playback with ultra linear response
I must second the huh? However I would also say that if you want a headphone/can that covers the frequency range well think electrostatic...AKG K1000 or Stax.In terms of dynamics I would recommend Sennheiser HD650's.
Integrated amps with HT pass-thru?
I'm using an MF A5 used for around 1750...but MF has been doing HT passthroughs for the last 5 years or so...also a few others...you can definitely get passthrough at your price range in a very nice integrated.
Speaker Selection: B&W 805S or Revel M22 w/Sli-80
Auditioned the M22's at home and wound up liking Spendor S3e's better...check out "What Hi-Fi" (August I think or thereabouts) they reviewd the M22, 805's, S3e and several others.... It might be a good second opinion from reviewers that had them a...
HT pass through or 2 sets cables?
Ah...you have choices to make then. I assumed you had the HT passthrough. I limited my search to integrateds with this feature in order to eliminate having to match volume levels of two amplifiers (yes, the MF has an HT bypass). Prior to my MF I w...
Sennheiser Recommendations?
Aside from the recommended site posted earlier...I have the 650's. I'm surprise you prefer Senn's over Grado's...most rock listeners like the Grado brand for their bass/mid bass slam. I love my Senns but mostly for their detail...I sold a pair of ...
HT pass through or 2 sets cables?
I have a similar setup and can vouch for the HT passthrough option. I am using a Musical Fidelity integrated and an Arcam AVR200. The pass through works perfectly.
Sennheiser Recommendations?
Check out a web site called www.head-fi.org it is a very good headphone site with a lot of knowledgable people.
Musical Fidelity and Sonus Grand Piano too bright.
TghooperRecently I solved this problem with similar components...MF electronics and Spendor speakers...my problem ended up being isolation. I tried Vibrapod's cheapest pad and it took the edge right off. Prior I was switching from CD to Vinyl just...
Speaker cable help
Greg...I'm extatic that you have posted...you and I are working with similar digs...MF A5 integrated and cd player through Spendor S8e's. I am using Nordost Red Dawn interconnects and thinking about their speaker wire...currently using older gener...
Headphone amp necessary?
Newmanoc is correct...assuming your cans are of decent to good quality you may want something better. Cary is known for having good phone out jacks, but most are no more than a "cheap" throw in (even on major brands). Be aware that it will likely ...
