Cartridge recommendations
The Benz wood body series is very nice and gives some of the warmth you might be after. You'll have to check price and maybe accept used if you are comfortable with that.
hanss turntables
I didn't hear it with same cartridge/arm/associated equipment (a near impossibility)but the dealer and I were mightly impressed. The dealer also thought it was ultra close to the Monaco table from Gran Prix (which I've heard too) and I would agree...
Rogue Audio M-150 upgrade to M-180
The upgrade is well worth it in my opinion. However it may depend on what speakers you are driving. Also have you retubed your 150 amps? If not check out the review at enjoythemusic.com (no affiliation)...buy the tubes he recommends and it will be...
Magico Mini with REL Stentor Sub can it match?
REL subs are more suited to floor standing speakers that already have decent bass output...their philosophy is different from other subs. They fortify the bass as opposed to creating it in a system that has no bass below 50hz.This is coming from a...
Headphone amp for Grado 125's ???
Check out Singlepower tube amps...not sure what their entry level tube amps run these days...but an older unit should fall in the range you are looking at. They drive my 125's beautifully as they are an easy load. Tubes make them sing and Singlepo...

Tube Integrated or SS for Usher Be 718's?

Looking for DAC/CD player solution
IndiesoundI think your A5 is a good idea...I owned one for several years and now have the Ushers you are attempting to drive...though I have not heard them together! But I would feel comfortable saying the two will work well together. I do not rec...
Looking for DAC/CD player solution
I like Danmyers suggestions above...I am doing the same things you are with the Be-718's...streaming to a PS3 (same as your squeezbox) then into an Arcam AVR350 (internal DAC)...I am thinking about putting an external DAC between the PS3 and Recei...
ProAc Response D Two vs Usher Be-718
Can't say much between the Usher and ProAc...never heard the Proac. Just writing to say that the Ushers work very well in my room that is of similar proportions...12 x 16. 200 watts is also very good...they need lots of power...I run 200 watts and...
Speakers for HT/2 channel
This is obviously highly subjective, but I would go for an old Revel Performa series...not the 52 but the 50 series...I put this system together for my dad...we picked up the C50 and F50 speakers for a total around $2800...they are incredible for ...
Review: Usher Be-718 Monitor
This is a great thread...glad i stumbled upon it. I have tried these speakers with 2 different amps...Rogue 150 mono's and an Arcam AVR350...oddly enough I greatly prefer them with the Arcam...the biggest suprise came when I bi-amped them using ch...
London Howling Wolf Sessions
Grimace...I too am a huge fan of Wolf's...in fact the London sessions was the first album to turn me on to Wolf. I have what I believe is the original pressing...70's...no date on the album. There are 13 tracks if you include the intro of "Little ...
