Record Cleaning brushes - experimentation? I was using th ones you are using but recently purchased walker audios three brush set-I only use it for cleaning used records with the AI 3-step cleaners and I'm happy with it. For new records, its mofi brushes (2 seperate ones) with Needle Dr fl...
What to do with bad recorded CDs My poorer recordings sound much better ripped to hardrive with EAC and then played through squeezebox/benchmark. What is unlistenable through my Esoteric is tolerable through the squeezebox.
Interconnect from Phono stage to Pre amp I use Tara Labs The One. A little pricey ($2,000) but truly neutral. Works great for me.
nordost red dawn: problem, please help Your amps are going into oscillation with the red dawns. Were they after market terminations? In other words, not terminated by Nordost or not originally purchased with those terminations?
Wadia 521 or Berkeley DAC Check out the reviews on the Berkley at Computeraudiophile and Absolute Sound. The RAVE about the Berkley and optimum performance, they say, is direct to amp.
B&W 802D vs 800 Nautilus I have heard both and the 800's are clearly better, but they do need a big room. May be a bit boomy in a small room and these babies can sing. In my room, I think I'd have to go with the 802's as it's a bit on the small side.
how should i move forward...blu-ray etc...? Rich,The Bluray pic (1080P) is outstanding, though 1080i not a slouch but to get the best, 1080P is the way to go. I think you can stay w/1080i until you upgrade the display and you wouldn't be too dissapointed BUT it's the new audio codecs that w...
Rega P3-24 Vs VPI Scout. Craw 13,I listen to mostly Jazz these days, Ray Brown, Ben Webster, Louis, Ella, Oscar Peterson. Lots of vocals. Do a decent amount of Classical and still go to classic rock and heavy metal every once in a while.
Rega P3-24 Vs VPI Scout. I had the regular P3 w/RB300 arm, Grado gold and upgraded to a VPI TNT Jr. (w/Benz Micro Glider). The Rega was $500 and the Grado was $200. The VPI rig (got a great deal) was $2,500 (w/cartridge, with trade in of the rega/grado) and the difference...
More convinced of analog than ever I have a pretty decent digital rig (Esoteric X03 SE) and enjoy random playlists through the Squeezebox/Benchmark DAC - it is a treat to just hear hours of great music without getting up-and it does sound awesome, but there is just something extra ...
Doe's anyone have a Esoteric XO-3 cd player? Irishaudioboy, you gotta hear it. The 05 is sweet, but the 03SE is special, L o w level retrievel of the most minute details..., detail, depth, no edgyness or digititis... its a sweet rig. No fatigue-very fussy as it wants only great recordings as...
VPI Scoutmaster static Assuming you have carpeting. Spray static guard once or twice a week over where you walk.
VPI Scout- motor pops in speakers when turned off I wouldn't use the talc on the belt. Used to be recommended over the years but now they found its a no-no. Eats up the belt.
Doe's anyone have a Esoteric XO-3 cd player? I have one as well and it is the best digital I have ever heard. I'm thrilled with it. Awesome redbood and sacd playback. Balanced out is the way to go so hope you have balanced input on preamp. Also needs a ton of break in so be patient. best pla...
firewire or USB for external music storage drive? About the usb dac thing, and I know that isn't what the original poster was asking - while Firewire Dacs are few, firewire to spdif converters aren't, and they are relatively inexpensive ($200), so you wouldn't be limited to a USB dac - you can ge... |
