So......what do you use under your speakers?
I, too, like the symposiums. I have had mine for years and they have made an incredible improvement, both in my sound room and downstairs, as hey have greatly helped reduce the sound in the room under my sound room. Here is why I recommend them to ...
Are all asynchronous USB inputs similar?
You will all see the transformation away from USB quickly. We are in an industry where we will send back $50,000 amplifiers to have them rewired with another $20,000 of wire. We upgrade fuses and have our houses rewired. How, then, do we just acce...
CD player
I would keep away. They have transport issues.
Are all asynchronous USB inputs similar?
We can all see the original question. While I posted my usual, smug, remark, the responses (thanks, Charles), did conjure up some nice discussions (finally), where there's finally talk where the USB interface may just be more convenient than bette...
Rush fans on the board ??
To me, the band is not even close to what they were prior to Permanent Waves. To me, they have done nothing as good as their first few albums in the dozen or so since. 2112 is what I measure them by. Farewll to Kings is another bar I use and, agai...

A better way to decide than to listen for yourself? Now, I have 'heard' everything!

Tell that to baetis. Just cause there was USB at more rooms is a silly response. The world is flat again? USB is done. Thank the lord. Puters are built cheap but that ol USB output is made of gold. Ithink the Brooklyn bridge is still for sale.

The one thing that they all have in common is the poor sound quality. USB is for connecting your printer, not your DAC. If you notice the new era of servers, they have abandoned USB due to its poor sound quality. It was originally used as people j...

Permanent Waves was their first commercial album and it has been downhill ever since. Bytor, Xanadu, La Villa Stragnata....and then we get washing machines. What a poor ending for them. Sales are at an all time high but creativity at a dismal, com...
Thiel death do we part . . .
You just need a better CD player (and then, maybe, better amps) but the 1st issue is the way the music is being pulled from those pits. I upgraded players recently and now all my horrible 70's CD;s sound pretty amazing.
baetis media server
and they also knock the crap out of USB.
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
The new Hugh Laurie CD is awesome!
2014 wish list
I did my amps and cd player in 2013 and was thrilled so I think I would like to get a new vinyl rig. Maybe a Palmer 2.5 or something a little easier to use than my very moody VPI. (and something that sounds better!)
Computer output to DAC, which route?
USB is pretty pathetic. Firewire does blow it away. For $200 - heck - $150 - just get an ESI Juli@ soundcard. it blows away the usb at a much lower cost. USB sucks - plain and simple. Use it to connect your mouse and printer, not a dac...
What would give the best overall improvement
see if you can add the periphery ring & clamp - it was one of the largest upgrades I ever made on my rig. Huge improvement. Have not heard surface noise since.
