Have Passive Preamps Finally Come of Age? (This is a corrected post regarding my passive unit’s name.) I have a number of active preamps and one passive unit. My favorite?A passive unit called “The Liquid Pre”, by Teo Audio. Unbuffered and not powered by electricity.
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord? Hmmm...Mark’s lawyer should have advised Mark that he cannot ask another to do a posting that Mark, himself, cannot do. And Mark’s offer to continue to sell CPT “NOS” products on Audiogon really does not sound proper in the very least. It appears ...
Have l become unstable? I own a set of ATC SCM-20A active monitors. They replaced Dunlavy SCIVa’s powered by one of a variety of amps and speaker cable combinations. I never turned back. Simpler is better. No longer do I need or worry about the adequacy of speaker cablin...
Dahlquist DQ10 I bought a new pair when they were released back in the day. Had to sell them when I moved into my college dorm room. Wish I hadn’t. Besides checking the crossover caps, I recommend replacing the woofers. Their surrounds are likely rotten. I bough...
Which material sounds better for speakers construction? Wood, Ply or MDF? MDF can be affected by relative humidity, which in turn affects any attached veneer. One must totally seal all exposed MDF surfaces to render it immune to the affects of humidity. Kind of a pain.
Pre and Amp Suggestions I’ve used a number of amp topologies over the years, including Spectron class D switching amps, other class A and AB amps, both of transistor and tube designs. There are a lot of decent well-designed amps and integrated units. My favorite? A set o...
First Foray into XLR I’ve tried a full loom of XLR-terminated cables in a fully-balanced home audio system. In terms of noise levels, the balanced, XLR-based system really didn’t afford advantages over an unbalanced, RCA-terminated system. And for those who claim othe...
New TEO Audio ICs, who has them? @tuffy72561 great minds think alike. I ordered a second 1M-run of GC2’s from Teo this past week for doing the Schroeder Method between one of my source components and my Pre.
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER? The problem with reviewer-based, double-blind audio gear testing is that there are still significant variables that remain largely uncontrolled, rendering illusory the apparent objective being sought for the purposes of recommending a purchasing d...
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER? I’m into audio to enjoy listening to the music at home and use gear to attain that enjoyment. I am somewhat amused by all the vigorous, albeit seemingly well-intentioned, discussions about how to achieve that object through any sort of “test.” To...
New TEO Audio ICs, who has them? @wig Which cables did you use in the mix-‘n-match set up?
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord? @amg56 you’re a paragon of patience. Good luck!
Core Power Technologies From my perspective as one having been adversely affected by such dealers and manufacturers like that presented by CPT, one usually gets a radio silence response. I’m confused as to why CPT continues to stoke to flames with illusory promises of a ...
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord? @sfseay One really can’t trash anyone on this forum without the moderators stepping in to remove the posts.
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord? I agree with what @con1150 suggested. Need to file the complaint with the state AG office having jurisdiction over the company, which would be Colorado. This is likely where I erred in the past by going after that Michigan audio dealer via the Iow... |
