Speaker recommendation for married couple Listen to Johnny. Just make sure you go to a dealer who has them set up right (like Johnny does). Believe it or not, since getting Vandy 3Asigs, my wife has developed an interest in audio. Just last week I had an Ayre amp at home to demo and sh...
Bi-amping Vandersteen Treo CTs I agree with almarg. I am guessing that the Treo manual says that to dissuade people from the idea of using different amplifiers for the highs and lows (e.g., trying to get tube magic on top and solid state slam on the bottom). I suppose RV assu...
Best integrated from this list... Ayre is great match with Vandies. I'm running the V5xe with 3A Signatures. The 2s need less power, so you will do file with Ayre's entry level integrated (65w/channel or so).

Picking up my Prime on Saturday You working with probably the best in the biz, so I know you're going to have a great experience. While you're there, try to get a demo of the Vandersteen 7s.....yowzer.
Why does bi-amping speakers sound better? A number of people, including Richard Vandersteen, think most (maybe all?) of the advantages you heard come from the fact that bi-amping inherently bi-wires.
LaScalla "horn" sound compared to "maggie" sound Please keep us updated if you end up taking the plunge.
LaScalla "horn" sound compared to "maggie" sound I wonder how the Bryston is going to play with LaScala. I have heard various vintage LaScalas and Klipschorns, but always with tubes. We are talking about different animals, but in my home theater I have Klipsch KLF-20s. I had them with a NAD a...
Preamps: Rogue Audio RP-1 vs. Quicksilver Audio Line Stage Pre - Sonic Differences Based on my experience, the RP-1 is very sensitive your amp's input impedance. My amp's is around 40Kohm and it sounded lifeless....an obvious loss of high frequency air and detail. So the old adage applies. Bring them both home, test 'em out, a...
High End Ethernet Cables ....Real Deal or Snake Oil I've got fairly fancy AudioQuest XLRs in my system (Colorados). But I can't swallow the idea of a fancy Ethernet cable. Maybe I'm missing out, but I kind of doubt it.
recommendations of phono preamps < $3000 range I've heard great things about that piece. Look forward to your impressions.
Best of both worlds, Vandersteen and B&W I have 3A Sigs driven by a NAD S200 (225w/channel into 8 ohms and it close to doubles into 4 ohms). I would never think to comment that these speakers are bass shy or anemic in any sense. A room/placement problem is often to blame for bass issue... |
