Whats on your turntable tonight? Dire Straits, Brothers In Arms, MoFi 45 RPM two disc set. WOW!!!! Sounds *fantastic* even on my modest 'table.
Have you heard of this speaker? Wesley & Kemp Looks like the worst kind of nostalgia.
Charley Hansen (Ayre) Passed Away "There is no negative feedback in heaven" -- great line and fitting tribute to someone (only one?) I put in the same league as Richard Vandersteen.
Shahinian Obelisk vs VandersteenTreo I run 3A Sigs with an Ayre V-5xe. Fantastic synergy.
Phono stages employing feedback & record scratch "tic" Can't give you a bright-line rule, but my Ayre P-5xe is legendarily quiet and does not use feedback. Not sure if it is quiet *because* it lacks feedback, though.
Vandersteen fans..need your input (TREO CT) I think our hearing is less sensitive to high frequencies at low volumes. Have you tried playing around with toe in?
No frills balanced ss integrated amp? Used Ayre.
New York Stereo show at Park Lane Hotel First time hearing about it; thanks for the intel. Will check out who's exhibiting and decide on that basis....
Biwire Cables for Vandersteen 2CE Signatures That sounds like a good approach. Spend the leftover $600 on music. :)
Biwire Cables for Vandersteen 2CE Signatures I have true bi-wire Audioquest Type 4s between my Vandersteen 3A Sigs and my Ayre V-5XE. I think that wiring set up costs around $250 and it works great. It’s your money, spend it as you wish....but I’d hesitate to budget $1000 on speaker wires in...
Searching for the most "accurate" speaker (below 15K) Just a general comment. I think that some people who comment about Vandersteens lacking detail or sounding overly warm (i.e., to the point of being colored) perhaps have not heard the current line. I find it hard to believe anyone thinking the c...
Vandersteens, PSB or something else? If you can swing the Quattro CTs, that'd be my first recommendation.
Vandersteen I have 3A Sigs, driven by an Ayre V-5xe. Killer combination. That said, having recently heard the Quattro CT at Johnny Rutan's place, I would say that that is a big step up from the traditional Vandys (1, 2, 3). If it is feasible to wait a bit ...
Will preamp manufacturers tell you if the model is phase inverse? Ah, yes! Good point.
Will preamp manufacturers tell you if the model is phase inverse? Virtually certain that the RP-1 inverts phase--confirm with John Rutan (audioconnection on this board). I think the added complication with that preamp is that the phono pre-amp adds another stage of inversion, bringing you back into phase. If y... |
