can a new amp amp tame my speakers? You may want to try a pair of Spatial Computers Velocity Bridge 1 (VB1). They are a new product with a new approach for reducing RF/EMI noise and speaker driver/cable impedance leveling. My experience with them has been so positive. I'll go as far...
Best Audio Electronics for Paradigm S8v3 Speakers One more item that is a must-have for Paradigm speakers. Spatial Computer Velocity Bridge (VB1). Its amazing how these $200 devices have transformed the sound on these speakers. I'm actually thinking about keeping the S8's now. Please try them.
starting from scratch ...new system Sorry. I meant W4S MPre ($1100) not Oppo 105 as you will need analog inputs for a turntable. You will need to take a step down in amplification to fund a turntable under the setup I proposed.

Preamp with XLR input under 1k? For just $100.00 more you could consider a Wyred for sound mPre. Has a usb dac as well.
Oppo BDP-105 Volume Control? The 105 works fine as a preamp. I have mine hooked up via XLR directly to a pair of W4S Mamp monoblocks. How well it sounds in this configuration will in part depend on the impendence match between the 105 and your amp. And yes per Albertporter's ...
Wyred mAMP The Mamps take a very, very long time to break in. I know Holley will be in for a big surprise (or two!) in the future - assuming he has less than 1000 hours on them.
REVIEW: Schiit Bifrost DAC Hey thanks for the information. I've been looking for a fully balanced USB DAC for a while. The Gungnir looks like it might be the ticket. They have a 15 day trial period so why not. I'll be comparing the sound to an Oppo 105. I need two dacs for ...
Best Audio Electronics for Paradigm S8v3 Speakers Never really liked the S8's. Had a pair in storage that I was meaning to sell but had to pull them out after my system was stolen in a home burglary last year. Decided I needed something simple and relatively inexpensive so I pulled the trigger on...
W4S SX-500 vs. new mAmp? Absolutely love mine. Bass and driver control are at the top of the list tied with the smooth and natural refinement of the sound. Lots of weight and body across all frequency ranges. You will not be dissapointed.
Is the Oppo-105 with Modwright modifications I'm using the stock 105 for audio. I think it's an incredible value given the price and performance. As a transport, its better than Bel Canto CD-2 it replaced. I also use it as a pre-amp. It does a fine job in that capacity as well. Oppo just add...
W4S SX-500 vs. new mAmp? It's going to take at least 150 hours before he should comment on the sound. There was a recent review that indicated 300 hours for full break in. I concur based on my experience with these amps.
Are You Using A Separate DAC With Your Oppo 105? That would be a complete waste of money given the quality of the Oppo DAC and the 105's analog outputs. If the external DAC had a better analog output stage than maybe. A potentially an expensive proposition.
W4S SX-500 vs. new mAmp? New mAmps live up to the advertising hype. They are smooth, powerful and refined. Hard to believe these amps have so much power and control given their size. Best I've ever heard? No but still very very nice. Incredible sound for the price. No com...
can a new amp amp tame my speakers? I would suggest the new W4S MAMPS. Talk about taming! They make my Paradigm V1 S8's just sing. So smooth and refined. These speakers have never sounded so good. They eliminate all aspects of the forward and brightness of this speaker that the V1 t... |
