Dylan's Time Out of Mind remix is Stunning
@stuartk  That's cool, we all have different tastes in production. For example I could never stand what Steve Lillywhite did to the Pogues third album, If I Should Fall from the Grace of God. For sure it sounded clean and tidy, but it also sound...
Dylan's Time Out of Mind remix is Stunning
@russ69  I thought the original CD sounded better than most.   Me too.  With tons and tons of atmosphere, bandwidth and reverb on it, Time Out of Mind was a huge Grammy winning album for Dylan, I loved it. Let's not also forget that the 1989 ...
A perfect song? What are your choices?
@edcyn  @cd318 Yeah, I got to agree that Alfie is a strong contender for Best Song Ever Written.   On top of everything else those must be Hal David's best lyrics. ----- As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, Alfie I know there's someth...
A perfect song? What are your choices?
Burt Bacharach conducts and Cilla Black sings what he regarded as his favourite song.
Experience with Townshend Seismic Podiums on Concrete Floor (they're great)
Informative video from Credo Audio Switzerland that compares spikes to their own isolation and that of Townshend Audio's. The key takeaway here might be that isolation products do not alter frequency response unless you want to include major stru...
If Nikola Tesla Were Alive Today, What Would His Stereo Look (and, Sound) Like?
I'm fairly certain that the ultra purist Tesla would be no fan of modern audio's greatest universal sin - ubiquitously compressed music.
Burt Bacharach has passed away
Handsome, talented, successful and married to Angie Dickinson, during the 1960s Bacharach seemed to have about as much any man ever did. Of course the glamour couple of the 1960s were also no strangers to tragedy either, particularly in the case ...
Those singers you enjoy,....that don't really have a great voice?
When it comes to popular music hardly anyone can be called a great singer. Cilla Black is ok on gentle ballads, as almost everyone else is too,  but on anything more physically challenging she transforms into 'Killa' Black as her voice turns into...
Rega P10 v Complete rebuild Garrard 401!
@senza  I don't think it's anything to worry about. I never got any joy with mucking about with VTA once I'd set the cartridge alignment and tracking weight as optimally as I could. It doesn't appear that Rega are too concerned with it either. ...
Experience with Townshend Seismic Podiums on Concrete Floor (they're great)
@brownsfan  For those us that don't want to pay more for our speakers than we did for our house, we are forced to look for products like the Townsend for a poor man's solution, and the reality is that we are going to have to try some different ty...
Experience with Townshend Seismic Podiums on Concrete Floor (they're great)
@brownsfan In trying to think my way through this problem, I’ve thought in terms of 3 different types of unwanted kinetic energy that are undoubtedly problematic to some degree. movement of the speaker cabinet back and forth and side to side...
Really Inexpensive Systems That Sounded Great?
I'm all for high performance budget gear as anyone but I can't honestly say that any of them sounded great. Some were surprisingly good. I remember a 1980s Rega Planar 3 / AR 18 bookshelf system playing Dylan's Blood on the Tracks with far more ...
What I wish I knew before starting my audiophile journey
@jimmyblues  "Ironically, after all these years my hearing is not what it used to be and I listen less critically now, and simply enjoy the music itself. The high end gear is long gone, yet I have settled with some nice components that faithful...
A perfect song? What are your choices?
Shouldn't she have this? Shouldn't we all?
Best 1,000 complete system for girlfriend ideas
@danoroo To suggest someone should spend almost $200 of a $1000 budget on connectors and speaker wire is some very bad advise.   Or a very poor attempt at sneaky advertising. In any case, thankfully, it does look as if the cable gravy train ...
