Grimm MU2 Experience
Above I posted that I have the MU1 and am considering the MU2. I’ve since upgraded my DAC and am extremely happy wiht the system. The MU1 is a spectacular streamer and roon core. I am a long time roon user. Decided it was time to upgrade and was ...
Subwoofer with center channel
I don't think sub frequencies are sent to the center channel.
Anyone replace the springs of a Nobsound footer?
Might be easier to just put 2 nobosounds under each corner.  I'm a physicist and have worked a lot with spring constants and it is hard to figure out what springs to buy without buying a lot and trying them.
Best Used Tube Based Preamp $2k Or Under?
Depends on the rest of your system.  I tend to go with the Hippocratic oath wrt audio: First, Do No Harm. By harm I mean overprocessing the signal.  So if you agree with that and have a simple signal path with minimal processing, then get a point...
High pitch buzz in speakers after adding some LEDs
Don't do that.  JK.  LEDs are known for that but only sometimes.  I have LEDs in my listening room no problem, but they are 10 ft from the equipment and on a different circuit.  I also have a PS audio power regenerator and 2 dedicated circuits.
HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH TO SPEND ON A SYSTEM? IF YOU GET THE SOUND DOES IT MATTER?
@bdp24 My music library is $499 for a lifetime subscription. seems I need to spend a bit more than that.
Chinese "Audiophile" Fuses
Fuses are made of conductive material. that said, I wouldn't trust these to blow at the designated current.  I've often thought one of the reasons audiophile fuses sound better is because they are at the top end of the tolerance.   Frankly, I dou...
What does 90% of the Absolute Best Sound Cost?
A lot of people spend $50K on a system that sounds like crap. but they have all the names mentioned in stereophile. And some fine looking crap. If you’re only looking at sound, not name or looks, I could put together a 90+% system for $10K.
HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH TO SPEND ON A SYSTEM? IF YOU GET THE SOUND DOES IT MATTER?
2% of your net worth is a good limit.
NSFW pop ups. C'mon Audiogon, get it together.
all my ads are for tubes, athletic gear (running mostly but also lifting and diet) and other things I’ve googled lately.  I think you mean ads in the margins, not popups which are a new window and more concerning. I hate it when I have to google ...
At the top of the line is it really all that different?
There are several different "top of the line" choices.  For example 89dB/watt speaker vs 99dB/watt speakers.  totally different animals with totally different amp pairings.   another big design difference is the simple amplifier vs the complicate...
Do military/industrial tubes sound better than regular ones ?
There is discussion of what a military tube really is so I'll add my understanding.  Military tubes generally have a military designation like vt-231 and often have JAN (joint army navy) on the box or even on the base.    They were made for a mili...
Advice for shipping from Canada to US?
Do you really want to tell the shipper how to ship it?  You start making decisions and if something goes wrong it is on you. I tell the seller "take whatever time you need to package and ship it safely.  I'm in no hurry." Customs process is a di...
Nuisance tripping of AFCI circuit breaker by inrush of current when turning on amplifiers
@Dievi67  good suggestion.  This can be tested by turning the amps on in the opposite order and seeing if it is still the second one that trips or if it is always the same amp that trips the breaker. Jerry
SPEAKERS THAT SOUND ALIVE & DYNAMIC AT LOW LISTENING LEVELS
@deep_333 I have long been intrigued by that speaker pictrued but have never heard it. At 103 dB/watt is should excell at low volumes. I do worry that it doesn’t have the mid bass driver that this manufacturer usually uses. However, the designer p...
