Best Audiophile recordings
I agree with Sayas on "Time Out", and plan to get the 45 rpm one as well.
What happen to favorite music list?
I'M NOT A DRUMMER, but my brother used to fiddle with it some, never got in a band, and became an Electrical engineer, heh heh. The live Sarah McLachlin "Mirror Ball" has nice punchy drums. I like to listen to it at 100 dB, and pretend I'm THERE w...
Forgive me.
Audition amps and preamps at the same time, or try a beefy integrated like the Plinius 8150.
Comments Sonus Faber Electa Amator's II
I agree, definitely DON'T get the later version!! Just mate yours to a fantastic subwoofer like the Velodyne HGS series, AND YOU'LL HAVE BETTER AND DEEPER BASS THAT'S EASIER TO DIAL INTO YOUR ROOM THAN A "FULL RANGE" SPEAKER...which the Grand Pian...
List or discuss your favorite music
DRUMSGREG: Thanks very much for the info, I'll have to check those out! I'm sure it's been rewarding for you to play the drums for so long. Keep it up! ALBERT: If you can lower yourself to my level in vinyl...just thought I'd let you know how much...
Heard (of) Audio Electronics Supply?
I've heard of them, but haven't experienced them in person. If you decide to resell them later, it might be more difficult to sell these than one of the more "hot ticket" tube amps/preamps.
Demise of "Audio" magazine
I didn't subscribe, just bought the buyer's guide issue every year. I subscribe to most of the others, though.
Tubes? Transistors? Which are better?
Do you have a Wolcott amp?
Anyone has heard the Sony SACD Player
Not mediocre, just not better than mine. AND MINE COSTS LESS, and is vastly more hi-rez/more like analog than anything requiring a linestage, including the SCD-1, 850, or 508.24.
Best guy to fix all electronics
This is great, I'll have to contact him...
Demise of "Audio" magazine
You and me both! I read something about it at the Stereophile site about a month ago. Go there and search "previous audio news". I DOUBT ANY OTHER MAGAZINE WILL EVER PUBLISH SUCH A COHERENT AND CONCISE BUYER'S GUIDE of ALL audio products, as did "...
Anyone ever hear of Bolivar Speaker Works?
Osclib, thanks for the info. I'll drop by next time I'm up there.
Hooking up Janis subwoofer
I would e-mail Janis with these questions before I did anything.
Forgive me.
I forgive you, for now, heh heh. You really need to read "The Complete Guide to Highend Audio", and a few back issues of Stereophile. OF COURSE THERE CAN BE LEVEL AND IMPEDANCE MISMATCHES, so try to compare the specified outputs and inputs of the ...
Anyone has heard the Sony SACD Player
If you think a Rotel CD player sounds great, you should hear a Resolution Audio CD50, which also decodes HDCD (although there's nothing "new" about HDCD, it's been around for nearly a decade). If the SACD format actually gets embraced by the music...
