Is SACD really this lousy? Albert or David, if you find the any of Loreena Mckennit's work, or Sarah McLachlan's "Mirror Ball" on vinyl, get an extra copy for me. Thanks. CDNow has "Inutero" on vinyl, I think. I may get it. I saw on the news that CD NOw is supposed to be go...
Classical Audiophiles Rejoice! I have 9 of the 10 Apogee remastered Living Stereo CD's, and I do like them very much, but the fidelity doesn't compare to even the 33 rpm vinly reissues...much less the 45 rpm ones. I do appreciate the convenience of CD. Again, that's why I enjoy...
MP3 players Yes, that is interesting. Also interesting that you might know Mr. Ludwig personally. I've not found the article yet, but if I remember correctly, it was a mastering engineer on the west coast (I forget who, but I'll certainly post this word for w...
Is SACD really this lousy? Well said Albert, I couldn't agree more, especially about Sony. I'm perhaps less frustrated than all of you, because I can enjoy both vinyl and CD. That's my problem, I enjoy listening to the stereo TOO much, and never get any other chores or proj...
Classical Audiophiles Rejoice! Kurtis, it is good to hear that you appreciate fine music, and I apologize for offending your software sensibilities regarding vinyl. For what it's worth, I too enjoy CD playback, have many RR and Naxos titles. So perhaps you assume too much in th...
Can speaker cables damage amplifiers? Marlec, have you tried MIT cables?
Is SACD really this lousy? Albert, I completely agree. Jmazur, you took offense where you shouldn't have, and no one believes what I said was "character assassination"...puuleeease! Take a chill pill, and think of another phrase to say besides "been there, done that". It wa...
Is SACD really this lousy? Anyway, the issue was how overpriced the SCD-1 is for the performance it offers. I think there'll be amazing all in one players on the market in the next year or so (assuming SACD doesn't die, which it may very well), and Jmazur just needs to be p...
Is SACD really this lousy? Too many posts on the 6th, no time to read them all. Back later...
Classical Audiophiles Rejoice! I wish you could hear Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra on 45 rpm vinyl...
Built your own speakers ? We know those issues aren't trivial (especially finish), but it is you who is trivializing the speaker building hobby, it seems to me. As far as specialized baffles go, the only commercial manufacturer that does that in a way that would be essenti...
My Only Question Is......... I don't see how the Wadia's output impedance would be higher than the input impedance of ANY power amp. The output impedance of my CD player is 50 ohms RCA, and 100 ohms XLR. What amplifier has an input impedance less than 50 ohms?
Is SACD really this lousy? That's good, Craig. Your CD front end might be better than mine. You have to use a linestage though, don't you? Seems like a lot of money just to listen to one of the formats.
MP3 players I have both "Into the Labyrinth" and "Planet Drum". They're good percussion discs, but sound "processed/mixed", and are. Look, I know full well that 2 inch reel tape is not 2 channel tape, but I guess I need to look that article up. They were like...
Is SACD really this lousy? Craig, it doesn't cost any more to have a great vinyl front end, versus a CD one. Just get what I've got. Also, there is no point in arguing over this, because we're all a stubborn lot.......................David, just telling someone how great vi... |
