Can we talk about Qobuz for a minute @rhljazz My guess is that Tidal applies that EQ so rap, hip-hop and pop music sounds "better" on lower fidelity gear.
Can we talk about Qobuz for a minute My subjective impressions of the musicality and sound quality of the major HD streaming services: 1. Qobuz2. Primephonic3. Spotify Premium (320 kbps Ogg Vorbis which is not lossless)4. IDAGIO5. Amazon HD6 Tidal
Can we talk about Qobuz for a minute My listening notes comparing Qobuz to Tidal: Round 2, Qobuz vs Tidal: So far Qobuz is clearly better than Tidal even listening through pretty cheap desktop passive speakers. Tidal sounds very two dimensional and flat in its sound quality but with ...
"Need" Roon, Bluesound Node, or or other streamer? Another vote on dropping Tidal. My experience is that it sounds worse than Spotify Premium.Another streamer to consider is the Pro-ject Stream Box S2 Ultra which is supposed to sound better than the Bluesound Node. It’s about $750-800 new and you ...
Can Streamed Music Sound Better than any other source? I've made my streaming sound a lot better than when I started building my digital system last year. The sound quality from my Denafrips Pontus II DAC helps, but efforts to reduce the amount of EMI and RFI in my digital signal path seems to have ev...
British Integrated Amps I've owned a Creek 4140 (version 1) for years. I was deciding between the Creek and a Naim Nait 2 at the time. I've really liked the sound but didn't really realize how good it actually sounded until this past year when I had a chance to have some...
Rank the tweaks, geeks! @hilde45 Great topic!I generally agree with what @oregonpapa said. Room acoustics is definitely the first priority. Being a vinyl diehard for the last 32 years, I’ve learned a lot about digital having built a digital source in the past year having...
Qobuz vs Tidal Tidal sounds a bit synthetic and processed to me. The tonal quality of Qobuz feels much more natural to me.
Mac vs streamer. My Pro-ject Stream Box can be controlled via an Internet browser with any PC or Mac (laptop or desktop) on the same network as the streamer. This works as well as any iPhone or Android phone. (or iPad). I think many other streamers such as the Blu...
What are your top 5 Windham Hill recordings? I've liked all of Michael Hedges' records. There were also some delightful recordings from Tuck & Patti which are somewhat unlike Windham Hill's typical artist selection.
What DAC upgrade made you say “DAMN, that sounds SO MUCH better than my last DAC”? One suggestion is to focus on all parts of the digital signal path instead of just the DAC. You can get audible improvements from each of these changes that adds up. I’ve heard clear and immediate improvements from:1. Switching to a streamer from ...
any suggestions on what to replace Bluesound Node 2i with I just read this great response on another forum from a person that is an audio reviewer. --------------------------------- I've used a few streamers in my time as a reviewer and the ones I recommend at each price tier are:1. Bluesound Node 2i ($...
Returning to audiophilism after 20 years: a little guidance would be nice :-) As someone who has actively avoided digital music for 32 years, my perception is that there have been changes in digital audio that have encouraged me to build a digital front end in the past year to both stream digital music as well as listen to ...
Mac vs streamer. +1. My suggestion if you want to try this out for yourself: Buy a used streamer. If you hear no difference, sell it for about what you paid for it. I've had good results from a fairly inexpensive Pro-ject Stream Box. |
