Unsound, sorry, but can you elaborate on how knowing that the Pass is a 15 amp draw will help me?

It's a funny world out there... wish we could all just take disks/equipment over to each other's house to examine the true state of affairs. Even since I made this thread, my INT-30A has kept improving (I'm about a month into ownership but leave i...

This commentary regarding power supplies made me start wondering about my house's (rather poor) electrical situation. I'm in a short term (2 year) rental of a house built around 1940 and much of the house is on the same circuit as my electronics (...
rega P5 with dynavector 10x5..which phono?
For education purposes, any comments on why the simaudio lp3 is a poor match?
rega P5 with dynavector 10x5..which phono?
To be honest, I primarily listen to imaging, and am not sure I've heard enough other phono's to make good comparisons on those dimensions. In comparing to my digital, I certainly think the sound is well balanced, the highs are softer and bit less ...

The Pass INT-30A certainly makes absolutely stunning music on the Thiels... but only with certain types of content.

I have a P3-24 with the same cartridge... Thiel 2.4s and a Pass Labs INT-30A, and have tried three different phonos. One was the Phono board in my Classe-CAP151 integrated (used just as a pre-amp), the second was the PS audio GCPH, and the third (...

Nope, haven't started to look through the options to learn their lineup yet... but I'll take a look. Any particular models you're a fan of? At one point I was considering Mark Levinson, but the reliability complaints and all the posts about gettin...

Stevecham, as Unsound pointed out I do find it surprising that you're getting enough out of the CJ. I'm certainly not in a big room (or a small one for that matter), but my current Pass (the INT-30A... which gives 60 W of class A power into 4 ohms...

I'm willing to spend up to $4000 (on agon)... just trying to explore the options and figure out which of those might be worth "auditioning" (i.e., purchasing used and reselling if they don't compare favorably to my current XA-30.5/INT-30A). I'm go...

Sorry V-5xe... stupid typos.
Pre-amp suggestions for Thiel 2.4/Pass Labs XA30.5
As you know the 60 W @ 4 Ohms of the XA30.5 was the Class A output, the XA-30.5 would actually put out another 130 or so Watts in Class B @ 4 ohms for a total of about 190 Watts @ 4 Ohms. ~~~Is it the case that many Tube amps don't provide more po...
Pre-amp suggestions for Thiel 2.4/Pass Labs XA30.5
Here's a quote from a discussion about Mac autotransformers:The output autoformers have different windings in them so the 2,4 & 8 ohm taps are like 3 different amps that are optimized for speakers with the corresponding 2,4 & 8 ohm resista...
Pre-amp suggestions for Thiel 2.4/Pass Labs XA30.5
A Chinese amp with an unusual tube, that will put out less power than the amp you currently find to inadequately power the speakers your driving? Good luck with that! ~~~Ha... well, I see you have a strong opinion on that! I thought I was comparin...
Pre-amp suggestions for Thiel 2.4/Pass Labs XA30.5
Also, unsound... in a different thread, I read that the Mcintosh amps (at least the big ones) still double down as impedance drops. So basically, a 402 would give you 400W out of each of the different taps, but if you had a 4 Ohm load on the 8 Ohm...
