What makes speaker's sound big?
There is ONE major and many smaller minor factors which affect the size of the sound. That major factor is how much volume of air (not surface area), the speaker moves per unit time.  That is pretty much it.The minor factors are just too many to co...
Funny how streaming/digital still chases that analog benchmark.
lexx21,You are getting ME confused with Audio2design.....I did not say anything
Funny how streaming/digital still chases that analog benchmark.
lexx21Exactly....I worked mostly on cat6k data plane running IOS.I do not think they support it any more..

lexx21Do you remember what edisms does in IOS :-) ?

lexx21,I am sure your vinyl sounds perfect :-)But do not forget that is the RIAA circuits doing all the corrections for you, not the vinyl itself.

@lexx21,IOS as the Apple's operating system or the old Cisco operating system before their Nexus class of routers ?

Audiophile network switches are snake oil. A $35 netgear learning bridge will do EXACTLY the same thing. Packets whizz around at 10 Gbits/sec on these guys, you think they need to introduce anything special for 300kHz at best. What a joke...Before ...

@larry5729,I totally agree with you and you are not deaf, the ones who hear superior sound from vinyl are in denial and in nostalgia.Vinyl by design and laws of physics, can NOT record base frequencies and hence need trickery like RIAA curve match...

Whatever you want to buy, find out how easy it is to replace the stylus.  If there is just one dealer who can do it and they go out of business, you will regret it.
Just how many outlets do you need for your stereo?
spatialking,As long as you are on a single outlet, you can have a walwart extender to plug in those wide annoying boxes :-)  Since the plugs are very close to each other in electrical terms, it is unlikely you will have a ground loop problem. This ...

has2be,Where have you been for the past 25-30 years ?Almost all analog since the 90's is first recorded digitally.  Ask recording engineers if you have any doubt. When you listen to what you think is analog, you are actually listening to a digital ...
XLR or RCA for my new DAC
If the cable length in question is less than about 4-5 feet, a SHIELDED RCA cable is almost as good as an XLR.  Otherwise, XLR starts to win.Be aware some RCA cables you buy are NOT properly shielded. Here is one I use that I KNOW is properly shiel...

Digital *IS* better.Only the nostalgic oldies are chasing the old analog sound.  People living in the 21st century are not.I have converted to digital and never looked back.  I do have an old Linn Sondek but I like its LOOKS more than its sound.  ...
Just how many outlets do you need for your stereo?
ONLY ONE.A 15 amp standard house outlet will supply about 1800 watts. To be conservative, say 1500 watts. This will EASILY cover most amplifiers of up to about 300 watts rms/channel, as well as ALL the other paraphernalia like tt, preamp, dac, stre...
The guru on fuses:
bluemoondriver,Yes, negligible to voltage as well.A fuse is a current device. It reacts to the current flow in it. It is not voltage dependent. The only reason they MAY put a voltage rating on it is to make sure that you do not use it in a circuit...
