Footers under new speakers @buellrider97 I saw you mentioned looking at room acoustics. I just completed a two week re-do of my treatments in my TN 2023 room trying to attack my response curve and flatten it. I made some interesting observations and am now making some fur...
Footers under new speakers I just changed out Gaia's for Stack Auva 100's and am very pleased with 2 things that improved: 1) Tone - the tone of voices and instruments jumped up nicely. Maybe it is clarity, but my brain said tone. 2) Bass - it got punchier, less blurry, n...
New vs uses in your current setup Preamp, amp, DAC, Aurender, speakers, power cables, IC's, and SC's, all used. Rack was new, woohoo! Puritan was new. 2nd woohoo I was never in a position to have a $100k retail system at new pricing. Lots of research and sharpshooter shopping.
advice on hiding cables https://www.audiogon.com/systems/10635 Maybe, as mentioned, elevate them and give an on-purpose look to them. I made mine from bowl blanks from Ebay and some time with the router table.
Does Anybody Remember Rocket Speakers? i owned several pair in the day from AV123. I particularly liked the RS850's in my HT.
Ice fans for listening during warm/hot days A little trick I have used for years is a 240 volt fan (like a small PC box fan) running at 120 volts so it is half speed and practically silent. If you need more airflow then this won't do it. I set it over the tubes on my preamp and with the per...
Digital Room Correction vs Room Treatments @captouch I don’t really feel that it is bright. I am a very analytical listener as well and like the air I get. Maybe that psyches me into a satisfaction level. My hearing is pretty decent to 14khz for an old man per the test 3 years ago. You’ll...
Digital Room Correction vs Room Treatments I'm a firm believer that bass trapping can solve a lot of issues for little money and effort. Taming that low end helps a bunch as Eric pointed out. My room response before and after bass traps and treatments: https://www.audiogon.com/systems/10...
Flatscreen between speakers Nice work. As cousin Eddie said, "BINGO!"
15 amp vs 20 amp FYI: Kil-a-watt will capture peaks. Didn't use a handheld meter. Certainly understand that 15 amps will never be reached even with transients.
Problem with system Does this occur when cold or after the gear has been run for some time? Perhaps a faulty component exposes itself when the gear is heated up.
15 amp vs 20 amp @jea48 always makes sound technical explanations On a side note, you would be quite surprised how few amps you really draw if you were to measure your wall outlet to the system running at a high level. In the past, a similar system to my present ...
My Favorite Tweaks, What is yours? All of you got me thinking about this and I had to make a list because it shocked me how many I have in my system. When you run out of the big buck pieces I guess the tweaks have been the gravy on the potatoes. Some are serious, some are for fun. ...
Tube Amp for Coda 8 Part 2 KDS, you have a great amp so be sure to add a commensurate pre, IMO tubed, to match up with it. Keep that system at a high level and it will reward you. Then later we can talk cables (!).
Tube Amp for Coda 8 Part 2 @kds Great question. I have owned a few nice preamps in the last 10 years: Pass Labs XP12 - very nice unit. It was quiet and was everything you’d expect from Pass Aric Audio Motherlode - sound was okay, but as a single ended unit is was too noi... |
