Studio Acoustic Tiles/Panels for listening room?
One problem with using too much of this material (i.e. 2", 3", 4" thick) is that it is not linear through the audio range. It attenuates less and less as you go down in frequency. Therefore, if you cover the whole room, you will have an unbalanced...
Any Thomas Dolby fans out there?
Evidently there are less than 100 of the new limited edition release still available. I ordered mine Sunday. Can't wait to get it!Tireguy, the other album is "Golden Age of Wireless." It started the whole madness with the big 80's hit "She Blinded...
How to get rid of groud loop noise from dish ?
Just wondering if it is a bad idea to common up the grounds. Would this not put a bit of noise onto your audio component's ground? If so, this would not be good for your noise floor.
Speaker ohm's?????
Chances are that the amp will be okay. A decent 8 ohm amp would be able to drive 6 ohm speakers without getting too mad at you. My amp is rated at 200 Watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 350 Watts per channel into 4 ohms. My speakers are nominal 4 ...
Why are you listening to that? ?
I find that recording quality is a very important factor to me when I'm listening to my home system. In the car, it is not much of a factor at all. This usually leads to two stacks of CDs, one for the car and one for the audio room. My most prized...
anyone listened to groups DADA & BUTTERFLY JONES ?
Well, I think the deal is that the singer and guitarist from DADA formed a new band called BUTTERFLY JONES. The new band seems to be more refined with song lyrics that are not as "off the wall." I am still getting to know all of this music but I w...
Review: Rega Planet 2000 CD Player
Have you compared the sound difference between a Rega Planet and Rega Planet 2000? Is there a big difference?
Television as source component
I fed my RCA 26" (from 1995) stereo tv variable line outputs into my computer soundcard a few years ago to capture two songs from the Burt Bacharach special that came on TNT (Turner Network TV.) The sound was outstanding !!! I was very suprised. I...
David Gray White Ladder anyone?
I found another guy who "hits the mark" for me anyway. Just wondering if anyone else has heard him. His name is John Mayer. The CD is "Room for Squares." I highly recommend it.
reasonably priced progressive scan dvd/cd player
I had a JVC XV-SA75GD DVD Audio/Video player. Let me say that the analog audio playback from this player was the worst I've ever owned. The highs were tilted up dramatically. I'm not sure if they meant to do that, if it could have been disabled, e...
MFSL Beatles CDs
I've heard stuff, maybe incorrect info. I guess they are a type of bootleg. At least, they are not officially MFSL CD releases. I heard they were from Japan and that someone supposedly got access to the MFSL masters they had used to create all the...
Analog Pass Thru
If you plan to ever do high resolution multichannel surround sound with SACD or DVD-Audio, you must have analog pass through. In the future, we may get an IEEE 1394 (Firewire) connection for these purposes, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
RPTV with combination HT and Audio systems?
Coincidentally, I put my absorption board in front of the TV last night for the first time in a while. Once again, I immediately hear improvement. I said above that "it does an amazing job." I said this in reference to the material in general. You...
David Gray White Ladder anyone?
It took me several listenings before I really liked David Gray. The first impression I had about "White Ladder" was that it was a poor quality recording. It does sound like a demo. It was easier to listen to in the car since sound is not as critic...
Thiel In-wall Speakers
I have an SCS for my center channel and I have been unhappy with the way it sounds. It doesn't cover the high frequencies well at all. Could my tweeter be out? I bought it used. It also has a boxy resonance in the lower midrange. Surely my tweeter...
