Vintage amplifier specifications
I have a vintage Marantz and a vintage Sansui, both stereo receivers. They have main and secondary speaker terminals. This was to have your main speakers and then a remote pair in another location. Most of the units of that era did not have a desi...
Anyone else have issues with Tidal?
I’ve had Tidal for a few years. I streamed a with laptop and about 2 years ago switched to a dedicated streamer. I’ve had occasion to stream from my phone to a Bose portable speaker while working in the garage or yard. Since I was at home Tidal dr...
Ultimate stereo nightmare
Good luck Richard, here’s what I did in your situation. One approach , I took the system apart and cleaned and treated all the cables, components, tubes, and tube sockets with Deoxit. This took a full day. Then I pulled the rack away from the wall...
RIP Jeff Beck
Over  Under  Sideways  Down….. another great musician goes to the big gig in the sky. +1 @rlb61 , I streamed that album today.
Kim Simmonds Has Passed @ 75.
Sorry to hear that , thanks for sharing. I had tickets to see them and they canceled. I had to settle for the other 2 bands that were playing, ZZ Top and Cold Blood. So I never had the opportunity to see them live. I did however get to see Fogha...
Speaker Hum
If your speakers have powered subs, could you be having a ground loop problem? You have a cord for the amp and each speaker. So that’s 3 plus a source. Do you have a power filter or gang outlet on an extension cord so you could try all 3 on one ou...
Why is everyone so down on MQA?
First off , as a person interested in this topic, I appreciate the contributions as they are sound and based on listening trials. My experience with MQA and only a couple of DAC’s is that I wasn’t impressed. Also since my main DAC is a Shitt Yiggy...
Pure Class-A Amp under $2000 (USED)
Off topic , but would it be possible ? Could you request an A/B amp from one of the boutique builders like Van Alstine or Odyssey and have the bias set to  the extreme towards class A ? Just a random thought and I apologize in advance for my ign...
Zu for Pass Labs?
Contact Reno Hi Fi and ask for recommendations. I purchased used Omens and run on a budget with Had Inspire or Akitika, and enjoy them. The gentleman that sold me the Omens  regrets letting them go. However he has in his rotation Devore 0/96’s ...
3 Level, 40-44" wide, Well built for Isolation-Gear Stand-Where/Who?
I would get ideas from the Timber Nation site and similar places. Then I’d commission a local craftsmen to build it from a hardwood that pleases you. Also consider if you want it modular/ stackable or just one solid build. I’d also consider keep...
Streamers and their Fuses
Great thread , loads of good information. To the detractors running the interlaced fodder , you remind me of “ At the Zoo “, by S & G. Great info and great entertainment in one thread. Kinda like Certs , two mints in one. I love all of you , h...
DISCOGS: Music recommendations inspired by standout albums of 2022
I received the promo also, as I have an account at Discdogs. Yes we get plastered with marketing promos , but if we find something new we like it’s worth wading through the ones we don’t. Nothing is more enjoyable than finding new music that is...
KT 150 failure
George, thanks for the post. As a tube enthusiast I learn from my fellow Agoners. Over the last couple years I’ve had 2 power tube failures with my Had Inspire. The first was a SED Winged C 6550 that had a catastrophic envelope failure. Big pop an...
Klipsch Speakers
Check with online stores and inquire about a home demo. Many offer a trial period and could offer suggestions as to what pairs well with your Fortes. Demo a couple amps and if not happy , try different speakers.
Klipsch Speakers
I think you have too many variables in play for a single solution. If I may ramble a little. The Klipsch Heritage series has a distinct sound, tubes will improve it, but it’s still Klipsch and will always be bright and lack bass. Also your room...
