Speaker Spikes - Working Principle
Ok , so set me straight. I have uber thick shag over extra heavy Gortex type padding. My house is a 35 year old cement slab build. I have a couple styles of speakers. Zu omens on spikes and JBL 4312A monitors on 3 leg Sound Anchor stands, both run...
Was 1971 the high point of popular music?
Nice list , I’ve seen approximately half the bands on your list. Rory Gallagher passed way too soon. If the world doesn’t get past Taylor Swift, I’m going to go crazy. BTW I saw her with Jack Ingram before she was huge. My teenage daughter wanted ...
***Seasons Greetings A'goners***Are You Getting Any New Gear For Christmas***
A United Composite Centaur 76 and an Okuma Makiara 16. 😎 Gotta go outside and play too . As far as stereo gear , unfortunately no. Daughter married last summer , son next summer. But after that a new tube amp. Merry Christmas
Aggrivated tinnitus from speakers?
I suffer from long term exposure to firearms , racing and live music. About 10 years ago I rethought my system, and went with low power tubes. Since my price point is pretty modest I run a basic tube pre, SEP tube amp and 97 db speakers. I have...
There is none out there......
Lots of options here. I went with the TP Link to feed my Project Ultra Stream Box / Schiit Yiggy. I could tell a slight improvement over my Wi/Fi only. As mentioned above, I was concerned about added electrical noise. But it seemed an improvement....
Is There Just One Single Album That Does It For You, Completely? Just One.
Supertramp - Crime of the Century.
Has anyboyd used this amp, your thoughts on it
Read the sound description at Brent Jesse. My personal preference is all nos stuff. My favorite is Tekefunken, Tungsram, Seimens, Ei. American tubes are 6922, Phillips, Rca, etc. The various Russian tubes are nice too. Personally I dislike Mullard...
Somewhat of an oxymoron - speaker stands for the floor for bookshelf speakers.
Start with the Cardas speaker placement guidelines. Then read all you can find regarding placement. Look at some of the speaker stand manufacturers like Sound Anchor. For entry level speaker stands check sites like Crutchfield and Audio Advisor....
The latest audiophile streamer craze
I’ve been putting aluminum foil on my head for decades. Saves me from the aliens getting my brain. I learned that trick during the late 70’s while in Sedona. 😆 But joking aside you’re correct. I started playing with foil while in high school in th...
Integrated Question
Hi , I can’t comment directly on the amp as I’ve only had the KWI 200 in my system. But I can comment on the tubes. JJ’s are just dry and lacking. I’ve tried the Holland and Seimens tubes including the CCa. Those tubes added to upper mid range whi...
Dennis Had Inspire PSE 300B WOW!!!
@rdschicago, Dennis had one listed yesterday on EBay at $4250. Take a look and contact him. His email is Radioman??? , but start there. He’s busy but very approachable.
Dennis Had FIRE 300 B tube SET
I know it’s too soon, but I/we would love to hear your initial impressions. Also after further consideration with the RP-1 being Rogues entry level offering, if the Had deserves a better pre? I was looking at Don Sachs website, and it looked li...
The Healer
Music absolutely heals ! My mother created and ran a musical therapy department at a hospital for years until she retired. Her pursuit to help people started by simply providing audio and video tapes with players to patients. Then on to  “ Clown...
Dennis Had FIRE 300 B tube SET
FWIT I run a Rogue RP-1 into an older Firebottle SEP feeding Zu Omens. Schiit Yiggy , Thorens TT and MF transport up front. I have about 15 pairs of power tubes and 6-7 rectifier tubes for the Inspire. The Rogue pairs well with the SEP. I have ...
Is low cost DAC worth it?
The 2 DAC’s mentioned by @pmm are an excellent idea. I purchased an early edition Schiit Uber Analog DAC as my first. I used a stripped down laptop with an external power supply and a Cardas Clear usb cable. I upgraded to a Schiit Yiggy, and later...
