Material Selection for Vibration Damping
No time to fool around, go with the best. What is the best? An electron microscope platform. Yes, pricy, but some can be had for about $10K. The fall back would be 'moon gel', a drummers accessory sound for about $6. So, hurry to the Musican's Fri...
SET sound without a lot of money
Look into the Cayin 330B, great sound, great value.
xa5400es, emm labs, Meridian for classical piano.
Don't make a final decision until you check out the oppo 95. I've compared the 5400 to the 95 and my ears give the edge to the 95. Source media in the comparison was female vocal, not piano, so it may not be fair.
Furman Elite 15 vs Panamax 5100-PM
Furman has the edge, both in performance and warranty.
Audio Technica AT150MLX finally gets some respect
Another example of how a reasonable priced audio component can out perform the mega$ stuff. Just proves there is no relationship in the price/performance world.
Wow, everything posted for sale is ''light use''??
It may surprise you that most 'audiophiles' never do listen to their equipment. They acquire it for 'eye candy' status, and it leaves them feeling superior. So, when they get tired of looking at it, up it goes on Audiogon. Sad.
component break in
Speakers do need a break in, often you need to play white noise for at least 100 hours to get it started. When dealers talk about break in, turn it back on them with the 'dealer' doing the break in for you before the sale is final.
Aer Pisces Mkiii ?
I purchased the MKII. Finish was okay, sound terrible. I drove them with a variety of amps, SS and tubes. Given the low cost, and high shipping weight, not a very effective buy.
RE: Shipment Stopped by US Customs
After some negative experiences on having audio goods shipped from Canada to the US I stopped buying unless the seller could deliver to a border UPS outlet. I did this for customs, shipping cost and insurance coverage. So, I suggest that you ask y...
Blu ray upgrade?
Yes, by buying an oppo 95.
going from older shure cart to?
Stick to the newer version of the 97, as I think you will be disappointed in spending about $150 for something else. I have two tt's, one is loaded with a $2K Clearaudio and its platform is a VPI Aries. The other is a Denon 47F which I rotate a nu...
Smooth/Musical Bookshelves upto $1500 - $2000

What convention/show should I attend in 2012?
ces is by all the best, if only one can be attended
Vpi Classic motor lubrication
May I ask, why does not Harry include such 40wgt with the original purchase? No, Harry needs to ask another $10 for such. Remember, Harry is a marketing genius. He knows a cash cow when he sees it.
Don't Feel Guilty Spending $$$
Nor would a woman feel so about the new pair of shoes she just acquired. A pair a day keeps the wolf away. Of course, the $50K to construct the shoe closet must also be included. The guys with the best audio toys have wife's with huge shoe collect...
