BEST AC CORD UNDER 1000?
I recommend purchasing the cord that sounds the best with your system.
Change CJ Premier 12 to XS ??
Thanks again.
Change CJ Premier 12 to XS ??
Thanks so far for the input. How do I get in touch with this fellow Bill Thalmann you have mentioned? Why would I want to utilize his services over those of CJ?
Change CJ Premier 12 to XS ??
I have Wilson Witt II's, they are supposed to be a fairly easy load from what I have read. Thanks for the input.
Question about older stuff
One problem with older equipment is that the electrolytic capacitors start to dry out and lose their capacitance. They are also likely to begin leaking current. I'm talking about stuff that is 20 plus years old. But if you are looking for a way to...
Weird Thing after I lift my ground.
I had a Theta DAC at one time and they specifically stated in the manual to never lift the ground. Digital components generate a lot of noise and some depend on the ground to control this noise. Why are using the cheater plugs? Sometimes a hum pro...
To tone control or not to tone control
I'm suprised it was distorted. Oh well, experimenting is half the fun. Did you make sure to turn the volume on the adcom down so it didn't overload the CJ?
Tube Biasing ?
Distortion is hard to describe. It would add higher frequency harmonics to the signal which could be described as perhaps adding a fuzzy quality to the sound. Not a gross distortion unless severely under biased. If you turned the bias all the way ...
To tone control or not to tone control
Doc, there is an interesting article this month in Listener magazine about the differences in tube and transistor amplifiers. The premise is that although both distort the signal, tubes do so in a more musical way, which is more pleasing to the se...
Phase Inversion on CJ equipment
I was speakig of the CJ tube pre amps. I have no knowledge of their solid state units so I would take Sugarbrie's advice and consult the manual or e:mail CJ. I have always found them to be very responsive.
To tone control or not to tone control
Let me rephrase that. It should read, who is the weasel, not "which one of you weasels". I did not mean to imply that everyone on this forum is a weasel. Just those that vote negative without bothering to state their reasons.
To tone control or not to tone control
I want to know which one of you weasels gave me negative ratings on my posts without having the backbone to state your reasons. If you have a problem with my post, let me know what it is so we can discuss it.
Phase Inversion on CJ equipment
The CJ is phase inverting, not "is not" as stated in your post. It has a single stage of voltage amplifiction, which by it's nature inverts the phase. To correct this in the pre-amp would require another stage of voltage amplification. CJ has deci...
Tube Biasing ?
The signal to the speakers alternates from positive to negative with respect to ground. To increase efficiency in a push pull power amp, the positive half of the signal is amplified by one half of the tubes, and the negative half is amplified by t...
To tone control or not to tone control
Doc, you are correct to a point. Many (most?) recordings are equalized and processed. This is especially true with pop and rock recordings that are recorded to many tracks and then mixed down to 2. A lot of these are equalized and compressed to so...
