Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's? Stickman,I have 3.7's in a room that is 15.5' x 19.' The speakers are along the short wall, about 6' out from the front wall. Tweeters to the inside. What is surprising to me is that the 3.7's integrate with the room much better than the 1.6's did...
Wilson Sophia vs Aerial 7/9 Thanks, TJ. In the end I will never know what was wrong with my audition of the 7T's. I wish I could have heard what they are apparently capable of, but in the end, I an so happy with my maggies there is no harm done. I'm still not sure that it is...
Your Worst Audio Breakdown I had to send one channel of my Cary 500mb's back a couple years ago. Took about 5-6 weeks from the time it went down until I got it back. That was painful. My old Toscanini mono's got a lot of play!
Wilson Sophia vs Aerial 7/9 Teajay, If your 7T's outperformed a set of MG20's, there was something dreadfully wrong with the ones I heard. I can't imagine what the deal was. My living room is my listening room, so appearance is important and the 7T's are stunning looking spe...
Audio Magic Sorcerer Liquid Air speaker cables Achilles, Thanks for your review. I bought a used Liquid Air XLR IC back a few months ago. My first reaction was similar to yours. It was no better than the IC it replaced, which retailed for about 1/4th the cost. But I wasn't sure that the cable ...
Magnepan 3.7R's Jumpers and Resistors Hasse,Thanks. I thought I might have been shorted a pair of jumpers, but I also thought that might have been on purpose to insure that everyone started out using the 1 ohm resistors on the tweeters. I will see if I can get the dealer to obtain a s...
Wilson Sophia vs Aerial 7/9 Joncourage,I have heard the Sophia 3's and the new Aerial 7T's, though not in the same store, nor did I hear them on the same day. I loved the sophia's, but was not favorably impressed with the Aerials. The Aerials so underperformed my expectation...
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's? Mrschret,Excellent! When you get them set up, leave the room for the first two hours. Mine sounded pretty bad right out of the box, but sounded respectable after two hours and much better after 6. They continue to improve, but I'm guessing the bas...
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's? Mrschret,I was told 2-3 weeks was the wait when I ordered mine. I heard back right away that they were out of dark cherry, and that they expected a new shipment within a week. There were no surprises, and the dealer made sure and let me know when ...
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's? Mrscgret,Something is not adding up here on delivery of your 3.7's. I ordered mine on Nov 7th and took delivery on Dec 9th. They were held up an extra week because they ran out of dark cherry for a week. I'd be demanding some answers from the deal...
Upgrading Fuses Has anyone actually tried the $60 Audio magic fuses? That is a lot of money for a fuse, but I've learned by experience to not dismiss a priori the AM stuff. I have purchased a number of items from AM over the years, from power conditioners, to int...
Maggie speakers and bi-amping There is a discussion about this in the current thread on the 20.7's. I think you will find that lots of people have opinions on this subject. I have no experience with biamp'ed 3.6's using an external active crossover, so I can't offer a comparis...
Wow, everything posted for sale is ''light use''?? Couple thoughts. I have benefited from others impatience in allowing time for burn in. In such a case, I surmise that the seller concluded it is not what they are looking for after few hours, when in fact, they obviously needed to put some more ho...
Balanced Variable Attenuators The balanced Promethius TVC's are very good. I previously owned the Ref 4 and now own the Signature. They are very good in my opinion. It is going to take a pretty impressive piece to displace the Signature from my system.
Balanced Variable Attenuators I agree with Onhwy. I've used the Endlers before. They aren't going to pass for a Class A preamp in performance, but they are very good for the modest cost. I used them for a couple years going straight from a cdp to my amps. |
