Objective vs. Placebo relating to system changes Elizabeth, The muffler bearings are on my list but first I need to get my headlight fluid changed before winter. I thought Hondas were supposed to be reliable, but it seems like its one thing after the other. No doubt there are film-flam artists an...
Objective vs. Placebo relating to system changes "That's the point - there often ISN'T science and engineering, it's mystical nonsense that's justified by saying that "well, you're system can't resolve to hear the difference sniff, sniff", or "well, maybe YOUR ears can't hear, but mine....."."Sn...
Objective vs. Placebo relating to system changes Mceljo, My friend, with all due respect, I think a lot of us are baffled why some people fail to understand that rejection of and shielding against RFI and EMI can make an audible difference in a high end system. ItÂs not necessary to invoke meta...
Magnepans and Rock Zd, you make a valid point. Recent advances in computer assisted design of enclosures has changed the landscape a bit. That said, 3 years ago I wanted to move away from Maggies and couldn't do it. I could not touch the performance level of the 3.7...
Audio Magic Pulse Gen products Guys, I've had the 3rd standard PEA in place for a while now. After buying the first, I was able to pick up a couple used from guys that found they could get by with one. This allowed me to get a pretty good feel for the benefit each additional PE...
Building a Magnepan System, Please Help... What Frogman is saying should not be dismissed. However, The difference between a McCormack DNA 0.5 deluxe and a high powered Adcom is also laughable. Forget Adcom. It is not necessary to have 1000 WPC to get decent sound from Maggies. I drove my ...
Polling MagnePan Users - Using a SubWoofer? Stickman, a word of caution. It can be tricky using Rel Subs with your Cary;s. Talk to Cary before you do this. I;d also suggest you keep your eyes open for Cary 500.1s. Control of lower frequencies is much better. You may decide you don't really ...
Building a Magnepan System, Please Help... Jrodefeld, You are correct. Listening to equipment prior to purchase is always good advise but it isn't always possible. There are people who don't like Maggies. If you are just getting started and haven't formed a strong set of preferences, it ma...
Polling MagnePan Users - Using a SubWoofer? Stickman, I'll trade you my 3.7s and 2 subs for your 20.7's. :)
Building a Magnepan System, Please Help... Jrodefeld, Welcome to the society of obsessive compulsive Maggie owners. I started off with a pair of SMGa's driven by a small adcom amp decades ago. Take a look at my system page to see where this all leads. You can certainly get a start down this...
Cognitive Dissonance Theory – What Do You Think? I think it is pretty clear that we experience this desire to resolve cognitive dissonance. One sees it in science, one sees it in theology, and one sees it in everyday life as Schubert points out. It is interesting that we also experience in music...
RIP Panny Plasmas Elizabeth,Do you think Panasonic would have come out better if they shipped their plasmas with Pangea PCs? :) Sorry, couldn't help myself. Your analysis of market forces on high volume consumer goods is pretty hard to argue. Good post.
RIP Panny Plasmas It is no surprise that the AG crowd again separates itself from the hoi poloi. I got a 60 inch panny plasma last summer when I heard they were probably going to bow out. How anyone can tolerate an LCD is just mind boggling. Its not Panasonic's fau...
Question for Maggie 1.7 owners No experience with the 1.7's, but with the 1.6's I found a slight forward tilt to be better. I had Mye stands which made this easy and did not subject the speakers to danger of being knocked down when tilted forward.
Aerial 7T/6 vs Vandersteen Quatro/Treo/2Ce Sig II I can't comment on the Vandies. But I got a good listen in with the Aerial 7Ts in a superb room with a superb system. I auditioned Magnepan 3.7Rs the same day in the same room with the same equipment. The Maggies ran circles around the Aerials, at... |
