Suggestions regarding preamplifier choice I’ll probably try the Freya plus even though I’ve seen no exceptional reviews. Two of my well heeled friends are recommending Schiit models also and their experience is far superior to mine.
Comments regarding new setup “Almost” exclusively, and that’s the descriptor for my primary systems. My first speaker was a self constructed “sweet sixteen”; one was even based on a guitar body as a baffle so it was unclear perhaps to have worded my post the way I did.
Comments regarding new setup Yes. My B setup is, and has always been, devoid of any type of panel speaker and Ive enjoyed it very much so “box” type speakers are not a new discovery for me. I appreciate them all for what they each do well. Having done this since 1958 many of ...
What class is my el34 amplifier My images finally appeared under "broadstone's system" I hope this helps.
Potential issues using low powered tube amp with electrostatic speakers I just discovered that my images did download under"systems" under the title "broadston's system" I hope this helps.
What class is my el34 amplifier Atmasphere, first, thanks again for your past help when i was using Cary amplifiers with my Odysseys. There is no external control other than for volume the only adjustmentl inside the chassis is on a small circuit board and I think appears to...
Potential issues using low powered tube amp with electrostatic speakers Thanks, that's the kind of information I wanted to hear. I had no problem with electrostats and tubes in the past but because of the less powerful amp in this case I'm just a little apprehensive. Btw, I neglected to say that, although these are in...
Potential issues using low powered tube amp with electrostatic speakers I've been using them for about 10 days and am very happy with the sound. Several of my hobbyist friends estimate the power to be approx in the mid thirties at 8 ohms; if the switch referred to is what we think, in triode mode its output may be in ...
What class is my el34 amplifier My apologies for wasting time on this issue but lm unsuccessfully trying to submit images using the procedures suggested. Anyway, based on the above description, does anyone have a suggestion re the possible class and what the switches might contr...
What class is my el34 amplifier Ok, I created a system page (Broadstone’s system). The output tubes,4 per amp, are 6L6’s; the input is 6EU7. Each amp has a 2 way toggle switch of unknown function and a standard VU meter @ -20 to +5 range. I hope this helps.
What class is my el34 amplifier I’ve not had luck with photobucket yet. When I do I’ll send images.

Similar sound characteractics to MIT cables? I bought my first MIT cables about 30 years ago at a garage sale not because I had preconceived notions of improved sound but because I thought they looked really neat. I now have another pair that I acquired through a trade simply because I neede...
Advice using electrostats with tube amp. Atually, the "warmth" that I heard and generally favor with the triode modewas a bit too warm approaching somewhat dull. I switched to ultralinear for overall improved upper mid detail. Just an FYI.
Advice using electrostats with tube amp. Thanks, Al. I was hoping you'd see this post. As always you provided exactly the kind of direction that I needed. I wasn't specifically looking for the potential of generally over emphasized mids, but I did detect a hint of that in the lower mid f... |
