Improving bass from a front ported speaker
You want to improve bass, not increase output correct? Try it, you cannot hurt the speakers.
VTA adjustment for an RB600
You've got to start somewhere; therefore, a neutral position (parallel) is a good starting reference.
Coincident vs Lamm
Take a drive to visit your friend and bring home the amps to avoid any shipping damage. If you don't have the time, hire a neighbor’s kid to make the drive. If the amps reputation holds up, it's only going to be a one way trip.
VPI Direct Drive Turntable
In_shore, you have isolated some of the direct material costs, you touched on some of the direct labor cost, but you completely eliminated any reference to factory overhead, manufacturing profit, and distribution/dealer profit. In manufacturing, a...
Coincident vs Lamm
Markus1229, how much is he asking? If the price is really good, then there would be little downside in purchasing them and trying them out. Well priced Lamm's are always in demand should you choose another direction.
VPI Classic platter - is center milled?
Markd51, no, the platter in question is identical to all previous Classic platters with the exception of having a raised middle as appose to label recess.
VPI Classic platter - is center milled?
Emailed forwarded to me from Matt W.There was actually a supplier mistake for a short period of time, there is suppose to be a recess for the album label but for a short period of time there were some platter made with the raised center and a diff...
Can I use a subwoofer with an Accuphase E-202 amp?
The only active subwoofer that I know that can take an output off an amplifier is those made by REL. Are you looking at a REL?
Coincident vs Lamm
Charles, no I have not heard the Lamm’s with the TE. My friend runs his Lamm 2.1 with Verity Audio Lohengrin IIS speakers. He also has a pair of Tenor Audio amps. He is the same guy who just bought the Wyetech Ruby STD which I will hear this comin...
Coincident vs Lamm
Since your mentioned SET, I assume we are talking about the ML2.2, not the M2.2.I like the ML2.2 a lot, and it is a very excellent sounding amplifier. I do however, find it way over priced, therefore, it would need to be a "VERY" good deal for me ...
Can I use a subwoofer with an Accuphase E-202 amp?
Why not just get a self powered subwoofer and run it from your pre-amp outputs?
Turntable upgrade, tweaks, or stay put?
Is the SDS a worthwhile upgradeAbsolutely, some would consider it a must.
Vendor war stories . . . good ones that is . . .
I had an original Bryston 4B which developed a mechanical buzz in one the transformers. Since Bryston was within an hour’s drive, I drove the amp to their factory. I was brought into the repair area where the tech removed the cover and said that B...
What is the acceptable range for tube bias?
I stand corrected (thanks Atmasphere). None of my tube amps measured bias in volts.
CARY CAD120s clipping?
I agree with Polk432 that separates “generally” perform better than integrated amps, but separates are still bound by ohm’s law. If your gripe with the SLI-80 was a lack of detail and transparency then separates may be the ticket. If you feel that...
