Cartridge reliability
I'm using a 20+ year old Lyra Cclavis D.C.  The ONLY problem I ever had was a worn stylus.  Not worn out, just worn.  The stylus and cantilever were replaced a couple of years ago by Soundsmith.  I'm still satisfied with the cartridge.  I have a L...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
You can go solid state.  Then you would be moving from constantly noisy tubes that can easily be replaced with quieter tubes or you can go with constantly noisy solid state devices that can't easily be replaced.
Cartridge recommendations under $2500
I am a Lyra fan but not that familiar with the Kleos.  I have not heard the AT ART7 or ART9, but they seem to get a lot of positive comments.  The ART7 might have a little too low output to work well with that ARC phono stage.
Will 12 inch subwoofer be enough for an 18x20 room (with 10 ft cielings)
I've used 2 x 18" Eminence Kilomax drivers is 14 cu ft sealed cabinets in a room of similar volume.  EQ'ed the subs and placed them in the corners behind the main speakers.  Works OK.  It all depends on the listening position in the room.  The opt...
Budget Tube Preamp ($2000)
If you're lucky, you might find a used Herron VTSP-1a.
Phonostage recommendations under $3K
Used VTPH-2A.
How to physically move large heavy 100lb amplifiers easily (up and downstairs)
For heavy hauling, I ask the neighbor kids.  Both college football players.  For a 100 pound amp they would ask which one should come over to help.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
I've been busy and out of town.  So mostly what's on my turntable is dust.
Am I too big of a jerk, even for audiogon?
What make you ask that question?  Are you fishing for compliments?
Is my Stylus damaged?
Clean the stylus or not.  The speed of the runout groove is slow so not that much distance would have been covered in two hours.  It would be like less than two hours of regular play except that there are no ripples in the groove to cause wear.
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
I recently bought a 3" thick bamboo cutting board that I made into the top of turntable stand.  I cannot make a direct comparison because it was for a new turntable, but the system sounds very good.
Soundstage gone
Sounds like your cartridge is short of wack, or out of wack.  But make sure the table and platter are level and the arm tube is parallel with the record surface.  That's a start.  Make sure the cartridge cantilever is a straight and not an an angl...
Cartridge Opinions - Sorry
IIRC, your old Audioquest B200L is a low output cartridge.  If $1500 is your cap, there are a lot of good performing carts from Ortofon and Audiotechnica.  The AT-OC9/II or /III will perform nicely in your arm cart combo.  Stepping up, the AT ART9...
Need some turntable guidance
Nothing wrong with your TTs or speakers.  Upgrade your electronics.  Get a better cartridge.
Scam or awesome deal
What else is part of the deal that makes it worth $200?
