Hales Revelation 3:Oldie but is it still a Goodie? If you put a good signal to the speaker and do not over drive the unit everything should be fine. Plus most parts are available from other sources. I bought the designer reference and am not looking back.
Seeking Great Cool Runnin' SS Amp... Take a look at the older Threshold amps. I use to have a S150 and it never got warm to the touch. You see a few now and then for less than $1k.

Tweak: raising the subwoofer off the floor... I did it with a home made wood box with sand and floating top. Works great! Total cost $50.00
Black Diamond Racing/VPI Vibration Control BDR round things (Pucks) under the cones of the Aries made one heck of a difference.Even better if you use the BDR cones with the pucks. Also the record clamp is well worth the purchase. Heads over heals better than the VPI clamp.

"The Heat is On" -- ALERT Silicone is may not the agent for the drying, I feel it is the solvent. So look at the materials used in the mixture. Frankly I would ask questions about this topic to the speaker designers. They would have a better history in dealing with this to...

Subwoofer isolation I had a cabinet maker build a box (2x the foot print of the woofer) and filled it with sand. Plus I use BDR cones to keep it off the top for better isolation. Works for me! |
