The ups and downs of tube vs. SS...
I love the sound of tubes. I ran tube amps of various configurations with either a Sonic Frontiers or Melos hybrid tube preamp for over 25 years in my main system. About a year ago I bought a pair of single ended solid state Valvet mono blocks. Si...
What is your listening chair?
Eames lounge-chair with ottoman. No complaints.
Thinking out of the box here. It might make some defensive

Best DIY power cable. Why not make?
Biketech60+1 / I've made several PC's using  Oyaide Tunami cable myself & completely agree that this cable is well worth the money. Bought the cable from vhaudio.
Heart, Lungs, Brains, Veins, Liver
I'm thinking the liver would be whatever component wears out the quickest.
Who makes budget speaker cables which are truly “good” or “exceptional” in quality?
+1 Teo
Epos
I bought a pair of their 14's 25 years ago. I took them out of the main system years ago when getting into SE equipment. Still using them upstairs with the television & will probably never sell them. They still sound great and although used...
Soundstage Direct fulfillment timeliness?
My experience with shipping time from them is same as yours. However, in full disclosure, the titles I bought were fairly obscure. I'm fortunate to have a very good store nearby (Vertigo in GR Michigan) so 99% of the time I'll support him.
Good Sounding Vintage SS Receiver or Amps
I like the valvet amps. Not much power but very nice with high sensitivity speakers. I was also using tube gear prior to this.

Dedicated Phono Cables required??
My arms have always had a din connection so I've used a dedicated cable. For the money I would recommend either a cardas or furutech. Both are good although the furutech can get pricey.
How thick should the front baffle of speakers be?
+1 ErikThat makes good sense since eliminating micro vibrations to the cabinet through footers etc. greatly increases speaker presentation. I never knew what mine were capable of until I put them on ceramic ball type feet.
Why does all new pop music sound the same?
asp307 / Thanks for the lead. I'll check out the Meters.
Would love some feedback / Denon DL-S1 / phono match / cart recomendations
I've used that cartridge with a Cinemag SUT & it sounds good together. That cart has a lot of detail, although it's not bright. For the music you listen to, it should work out well. Literally wore that one out. The suspension gave way after ma...
