It certainly is. Digital sound quality has come a long way in the last 30 years. If you are going the DAC/Transport route, try to find a DAC that is less than 5 years old IRT technology.

Prof-FWIW, I never misunderstand what you write. In this case I was attempting to open your mind a little & improve the performance of your audio system at the same time.

Prof-Have you ever tried ANYTHING that Mahgister has suggested? Try some Helmholtz resonators in your room. They are effective.
