Solid State Phono Stages @thiefoflight looking at the Phono Loco and it looks like it requires a balanced input into the stage Your cables should work fine as they are. Current (no pun) production typically uses RCA inputs.
Solid State Phono Stages @lewm I know a lot of audiophiles break my "rule" by driving transimpedance stages with say a Denon DL103, which has a very high internal R. That's life. A great excuse for them to consider the upgraded “R” version DL103R (14 vs 40 ohms). Low...
Solid State Phono Stages @thiefoflight I don’t currently have balanced outs coming from my tonearm but it is an option. Not required on the current crop of Loco products although cable type should be considered as previously mentioned.
Koetsu Urushi stylus shape If you like your Urushi then I would wholeheartedly recommend having MoFi Distribution handle a “factory” rebuild. Having dealt with a large number of new & rebuilt Koetsu pickups over the years I can say their rebuilds look like they were bu...
Solid State Phono Stages +1 on the Sutherland Loco or transimpedance phono preamps. The build and specs of your PC1S make it an absolute ideal candidate. While your tonearm is not mentioned, Clearaudio Tonearms usually have a captive signal cable. Definitely helpful if y...
Technics SL-1500C or SL-1210GR I believe either turntable would be worthy. Also worth consideration would be their SL-1200 mk7. After years in the industry setting up top tier analog systems, I adore my modded 2010 Technics SL-1200 Mk5. What it lacks in sexy snob appeal is mor...
Still happily using vintage gear? I love my vintage gear! 20/20 vision in the rear view mirror allows for cherry-picking of some fine gear over the years. My daily driver amplifier is a well updated Accuphase P-250 that does it all. My last office system featured updated Origina...
Are there speakers that disappear regardless of the recording? My analog input 1983 active Meridian M-20 & M-100 loudspeakers are hologram generators.
TV and upgraded cables Just plugged in a Blue Jeans BJC Series-FE HDMI Cable and couldn’t be more pleased. Improved contrast, richer colors and just overall better definition & depth. The 3’ cable was only $22 delivered FedEx 2nd day envelope. Much preferred over m...
Best MC Cartridge Pairing for Technics SL-1210 GAE? Unfortunately, I struck out on an AT ART7 😢 Surprisingly, did not play well with my Sutherland Loco. May need to revisit sometime.
Is there any one piece of vintage gear you most wished you owned? Brewster Green ‘73 SD455 4-speed TA
Most beautiful turntable under $5k +1 on the used Oracle Delphi
Best MC Cartridge Pairing for Technics SL-1210 GAE? Consider the Audio Technica AT33PTG/2 Value aside, it should play well with your components electrically, mechanically and most important sonically. I’m a huge fan of tapered cantilevers.
Decided to try a SPU cartridge @kennyc . . . the ViV won't work on a SPU "G" but may likely work on SPU "N". The ViV should work with either style. My plan is to try the “G” version SPU Classic GM E MKII, as soon as I hear from Louis, on a ViV.
TV and upgraded cables I’m looking forward to trying a new Blue Jeans HDMI cable I just ordered https://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/hdmi-cablemob.htm |
