Upgrading Bluesound Node power supply with PD Creative (Hans B. reviews on Youtube)
I have the Bluesound NODE N130, and upgraded about three months ago to the KECES P3 external power supply.  Opening the Bludesound box, and replacing the internal power board, was straight forward and well documented in the instructions that came ...
Opinion of JM Lab Profil 7?
I bought a used pair of JM Labs Profile 7 speakers recently. Cabinets and grills were not in the best shape, but the midrange and sound staging was excellent, especially for a used speaker.  I don't find the highs bright at all with a Sunfire Ulti...
Time to pull the trigger on BluRay?
Panasonic has a good one, rated about as good as the PS3 and for less money. The Panasonic DMP-BD 35 and DMP-BD 55 are their latest versions. Don't buy earlier blu-ray players since they have issues, including long load times and lesser quality an...
Is the EMM DAC6e or DCC2 /CDSD the best out there?
Soooo . . . Mikel and Alex . . . are you getting together? Some of us would love to learn of your impressions of each other's systems and front ends . . .Thanks.
Any member feedback from C.E.S. 2006?
Chadnliz:The constant directivity wave guide on the VMPS 30 speakers was pretty impressive. I'm not sure I understand the physics of why it does what it does, but there certainly was a benefit. Wide dispersed sound, even, holographic, and almost a...
Any member feedback from C.E.S. 2006?
Brainwater:The von scheikert I room I was referring to was at The Show, it the golden ears section, a room 4 times the size of the the other rooms at the Show. I think the speakers were about $35K/pr. Can't remember the model number, but it was re...
Any member feedback from C.E.S. 2006?
I also liked the Ginko Audio Tubulous speakers with the Modwright preamp, and Modwright modified Denon 3910. CDs sounded great that the speakers seemed like a great value for $2500.Right near that room was a Boulder amp driving a new $40K+ speaker...
Which Power Amplifier to buy: Sunfire or Parasound
My vote would also be Sunfire since I chose to buy it over the parasound. Their service has been good when I had a problem with their recieve.Mjaudio: was the Sunfire signature you tested the first edition, or the second (there's a signficant diff...
Watt Puppy 7s/Maxx 2s
Definitely overpriced, unless you just like to look at your speakers. The Maxx2s, though well review able to produce beautiful music, are unfortunately blown out of the water by VMPS RMx at about $12K a pair. But Wilson wins the visual honors in th...
VMPS RM-40s - Bargin or not?
I'm surprised that you took the Watt Puppy over the RM-40 based on sound. Ascetics aside, I'd take the tweaked RM-40, over the Watt/puppy, or its big brother the RM-X over the Wilson Maxx. But there's no doubt that Wilson's are one of the most bea...
Which Processor: Sunfire or Bryston?
I understand that some aquaintences of mine did a multiple hour comparison between the Krell and the Sunfire III. The Sunfire won. Speakers used for the comparision were Wilson Maxx.
VMPS RM 40 or Coincident T.V.
I've heard both several times. VMPS is superior in the bottom end, and midrange, but comparable on top. The only advantage to the Coincident is that it is potentially an easier load for a tube amp to drive. Sadly, it appears the Canadian speakers ...
If you could have 2 turntables...
One should be an Oracle Premier Limited Edition in black and gold -- my favorite looking turntable of all time.
Utah - How bout it?
I'm game as well.
Maggie 3.6 vs. Talon Khorus?
Another suggestion: For my ears, the VMPS RM-40 is the ideal "compromise" without compromise between these two speakers. The RM-40's ribbons have midrange and top end clarity that surpass both the Maggie 3.6 and the Khorus at only slightly more mo...
