Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Update: Ohm factory says my Walsh 2000s should ship on Monday, the 27th. Since I am one state over, I should have them the next day. Shipping on the 27th means that Jay, my salesman at Ohm, was spot-on when he told me that the speakers would ship ...
Just me or do speakers in cell phones sound harsh?
I'm a flat earther: I use only a pair of tin cans connected by a length of string. Highly efficient, they use no power whatsoever. I use larger, institutional-size cans for deep, resonant bass, and pure cotton string, uncolored, for - wait for it ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Question for Ohm owners: How far apart are your left and right speakers? Are you happy with the results?I've read some comments that they need at least 6 feet between them to provide the kind of soundstage size they are capable of. The alcove in m...
Floorstanding speakers with Conrad Johnson amp/pre
In your price range, you might consider the DCM TFE-200 ($1000/pr). They are sold direct with a 30-day trial. Never heard them with C-J gear, but they sounded very good with a 25-watt Jolida tube integrated, in a fairly large room at a show. Here ...
Merlin vsm question
Other than a few impressive auditions at hifi shows, I don't have any long term experience with Merlins, and I have no experience with the VR3. However, you can have all your various version questions answered at the Merlin site, which includes a ...
Lite DAC60 to go with Rotel 1072 ?
Pacific Valve offers modified Lite DACSs with a return option (less a reasonable restocking fee). Other tube-based DACs are also available from retailers that will take them back if they are not what you had hoped for. One example, the Music Hall ...
Looking for a good subwoofer
For musicality, I strongly recommend the Vandersteen 2Wq. If HT is a major priority, the V2W might be a better fit. Whether or not it will pass the WAF test, I can't say.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Well, Mapman, I just found out today that my $9K dream speaker is now my $12K dream speaker :-(The Silverline Audio Bolero is now the Bolero Supreme, with a 33% price increase. This speaker nearly brought me to tears when I heard it at a show year...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I hear ya, rebbi. The 2000s were a stretch for me too. But, I'm almost 50 years old, I get almost nothing from keeping the money in the bank, and with the kids about to start college, this may be my last chance for a decent pair of speakers. Consi...
Lacking Soundstage - Vandersteen 2C
FWIW, I have a pair of 1Cs, and they are a bit under 5ft apart. I get great width, decent hieght, a little extension into the room, and no depth (55" RPTV sits between them). IMHO, the 4ft space between them is not the problem. Placing the speaker...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I think rebbi is correct. I was actually thinking about the Walsh 100S3 before the new line came out. In the new line, the 1000 is too small for my room (~2800 c.f.), so I went with the 2000. Given the improvements to the design, the economy, the ...
How effective is the Onzow Zerodust?
Wow - thanks you guys!!! I was reading this thread, thinking about the Onzow. I thought Magic Eraser was some kind of audiophile tweak like tube dampers, until I googled it. Obviously, I don't do the cleaning in my house! A $2.79 household cleanin...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Good question, Mapman. AFAIK, the casters are affixed to the plinth base, so you get both. I asked Jay if the plinths sat flat on the floor, since my basement floor (carpeted) is not completely flat. His response was that they come with casters, s...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Well, I finally, FINALLY, pulled the trigger (been following this thread for a long time!) on a pair of Walsh 2000s. Although I wanted a satin black finish, that was not available, so I ordered a black finished wood veneer. I ordered the standard ...
