Whats on your turntable tonight?
I started to play a record of Hawaiian music last night and noticed that the record was badly warped in one spot.  It looked like it might have been left in sunlight years ago.  I was thinking of trying heat to flatten the record — something like ...

@eric_squires.  😂🤣
have you ever bought stereo without listening first
Like sandthemall I didn’t listen to the amp, pre-amp, speakers or turntable before I bought them the past few months.  I relied upon reviews and the comments of people that had purchased the items and heard them in their homes.  When the reviews a...

The Beginning of the End, “Funky Nassau”I was at the local Walmart today and noticed that it caries certain record albums.  The albums all claimed to have some enhanced features for improved sound.  I suppose that most of the people purchasing rec...
Why do you think Bi-Wiring improves the sound ?
I tend to agree with several other respondents, especially regarding adding terminals to the speakers if they were manufactured with just one set — I don’t think I would bother.  But the Martin Logan 60XT’s I bought allow bi-wiring/bi-amping.  I h...
Not much talk about Yamaha turntables.
@yogiboy, Thanks for recommendation and link for Grado cart. I just ordered one and headshell for it.  Easy as pie!
Lifespan of amps and preamps?
@cruxarche,   Kudos to you for acquiring a system like that at such a young age.  Until recently, I was using a Sony AV receiver, Jensen speakers and a Pioneer CD changer, all 25-30+ years old.  They still sounded pretty good to me, but at this ad...
Who's Gone Topless?
I might try this on my Parasound A21.  Either top off or maybe a Plexiglass top instead.  I must admit that part of the reason I bought it is that I thought the innards are beautiful — I figured something so beautiful must make beautiful sound.  T...

Condolences on your and your wife's loss, tomic.Listened to that promotional album I had by Cheryl Dilcher.  She would likely have had a better career playing more up-tempo music -- voice is OK but can't carry singing ballads.
Renaming The Forum
Now that you mention it . . with the comments here that lament how aged the audiophile population is and younger people not seeming so interested . . . that this forum would be named,Audio-gon(e)    !!
Most recordings you own by a single artist, group, or composer
John MellenkampSteely DanOnly about 7 each. That's enough.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
I keep going through and cleaning this stack of old albums left to me and was pleasantly surprised by this set of covers (e.g., “Walk On By”).  The album cover had what looked like a rag-tag, almost cartoonish, bunch of characters and I assumed th...
Tweaks - An Honest Discussion
This is a question that I have had:  If relatively inexpensive tweaks, such as $100 for a better power cord or $60 for the aforementioned cones, make a significant difference, why wouldn’t equipment manufacturers include them with their products? ...
What to upgrade to?
@bobheinatz:  Bob, if you are satisfied with your audio system and just need to spend the money . . . . I have a chronically unemployed nephew who could sure use a hand!  😁
My list of seller red flags
I don’t really know anyone here, yet I feel that Audiogon would be a good place to purchase high-end audio equipment, especially from familiar names.  People here care about the music and equipment that accurately plays the music.  They enjoy shar...
