help narrowing down my list of speakers, $2500 Jrwr7,If you're ever in the Sacramento area, I invite you to come on by and have a listen to Tool/Soundgarden/Kings X on our Sonata II's. In fact, we only use them for rock. I think they might overpower Jamiec001's room--and Alan Yun (Silverline's...
help narrowing down my list of speakers, $2500 I agree, and I am voting for Maxxc as class president. In fact, if Maxxc is available for the next four years, I'm writing him in on the national ballot. All kidding aside:Based on your list, if you are going with floorstanders (my preference), I w...
Coldplay's "A Rush of Blood to the Head" Hammergjh,Read the fine print. I think the album includes a fold-out poster of a Gwyneth Paltrow. Still no takers?
help narrowing down my list of speakers, $2500 Totally agree, Maxx, about the sub. I had a pretty nice one, but in a small room it never seemed to sound as blended as when the speaker itself had all of the bass duties. And the Sonata II's are astounding in that regard--from Bach to Rock, as yo...
Coldplay's "A Rush of Blood to the Head" Pick up a Catherine Wheel album:"Adam & Eve""Chrome""Happy Days"They are Coldplay with cojones, and better production as well.
help narrowing down my list of speakers, $2500 I am using a pair of Silverline Sonata II speakers (and the Prima CDP as well) in a room that is 2' larger than yours in each direction. I use them primarily for rock: Tool, Soundgarden, XTC, Catherine Wheel, Jeff Buckley, etc. I bought them for a...
best shippers? Just shipped a pair of speakers with DHL. One arrived in two days with a little damage. The other arrived nine days later with significant damage. During those nine days, they had no idea where it was. I won't use them again.

Copper vs. Silver interconnects Robert,You're supposed to make me feel better, not show photos of a drumset that looks like Bobby Brady's wet dream! I don't have photos of my kit, but if you could imagine a 35 year old Rogers set that my father passed along to me after he stoppe...
Copper vs. Silver interconnects Thanks again for all of the input. I'm going to try out the AU24's next. I'm not too harried about this process, given that I really like the cables I currently use. I just thought it would be fun to try out some others, and I'm always up for that...
Copper vs. Silver interconnects Ptmconsulting, are you a drummer as well? I prefer tonal accuracy in the sound of the drums (again, silver has worked best so far in my systems), and the sense that the music is coming to me as opposed to me having to suss it out, for lack of a be...
Copper vs. Silver interconnects I've been thinking about trying the AU24's, as I've only heard great things about them. Thank you all for the feedback. All of the cables you mentioned will be on my list to try.All the best,Howard

Tube equipment reviews No kidding, Unclejeff. We put a Siemens 6922 in our Audio Aero Prima hybrid amp, and my wife asked what happened that it sounds so good. We swapped the stock Edicron 6922's for NOS Siemens in our Audion amp, and the Siemens lent an immediacy and l...
JD100 - can I do better under $2K I have to say that Readster's high end CDP choices are stellar. At the same time, I've heard a number of players that outperform the Jolida under the 5K mark, and selecting one is simply a matter of sonic preference. The Audio Aero Prima is a phen... |
