Why Don't More People Love Audio? I think it has much more to do with aesthetics than anything else. Just look at the System rooms of any Audiogon member, and compare it with the audio/HT room of someone who is not into high end. One is displayed as a part of one's life, and the o...
Copper vs. Silver interconnects The competition is getting fierce! I've been listening to a pair of the Z-squared Au/Au cables for the past week. They were thin and bright at first, but now that they are opening up (40 hours or more), I have to say that they are extraordinary ca...
which way to start tube-rolling ? please I don't know about that one. When I went from Sovtek tubes to NOS in my Jolida CDP, the difference was astounding. In my experience, no tube change has been inconsequential. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Power Conditioner for Amps. I have plugged a number of amps that I've owned into a variety of power conditioners, and each time, I found the sound to be veiled, and less dynamic. We are now paying $6/month to the local utility company for having installed surge protection on...
IC : Z-Squared Au/Au Gold Alloy I have the Au/Au cable, and it is outstanding. They are a bit thin at first, sort of edgy sounding. But when they break in, you just hear the music. They are revealing, detailed, fast, and fluid.
Budget cables - interconnects and speaker cables? In my experience, the Signal Cables are excellent--for the money. If you are willing to spend more money, you will get better performance. Again, that's just been my experience. It all depends on how much you want to spend. All the best,Howard
How do I let go...the āDā word Based upon the buzz 'round here, you might want to have a listen to one of those new DK Design amps. 150W per channel, and two 6922 pre-out tubes. They retail at $2995, and are all the rage, as they say.All the best,Howard
HAPPINESS IS... I recently bought an amp stand from them. And I would echo French fries' sentiments exactly. My transaction with Sound Anchors was perfect.
How do I let go...the āDā word Rosstaman,By choosing to pursue a lifelong dream, it sounds to me like your entire life just got an upgrade. I'd sell the components that don't fit right now, and buy those that do.Congratulations!
To much high Definitely treat the room. And, as has been suggested, going to a different IC can often help with the shrill highs. Although I prefer silver cables with our tube-based system, I found the Audience AU24 IC and the Analysis Plus Crystal Oval both t...
intergrated for rock and dance and blues I have only heard the Nait5i, and liked it very much. Still, I preferred the Audio Aero Prima Hybrid. Warmer, better instrument separation, and tighter bass. I'm sorry, I've not heard the other amps on your list.
Music for the spirit and the soul Many thanks to those who recommended Hillard Ensemble: "Officium" and "Morimur"Just received them, and they are absolutely phenomenal. Now, if I could just move my system into a big hall. Or better yet, a cathedral.
Why so much???? Slappy,I'll be slap happy to take those other 370 discs off your hands (or rack, as the case may be). I have no other alternative for getting over CD envy. Just say the word, and I'll send you my address. Unless, of course, you happen to own sixte...
Good Better Best Interconnects Tvad,You have the patience of a saint.Charandcafe,You might want to get a sense for how people generously share their experiences in this community before trashing them on your first go 'round. Believe it or not, everyone here is only trying to he...
Copper vs. Silver interconnects When I first heard the Verastarr cables, I thought they were a little bright, perhaps slightly edgy. But copper was my reference, so the silver cables were at first like driving a rental car compared to my own. However, I didn't want to take the V... |
