Where can I start to improve my sound the most 2ch 1) The room2) The CDPThe room is the true source of the music, IMO. It will have an affect on the sound that trumps the contribution of the other components. Take care of it first. Then, once you've powered on, the CDP becomes the key member. The ...
What's the "worst" cdp for the money? Ditto on that one, Wc65mustang (and Quackfat). Our entry into this foray was via an $800 CDP. Our current source runs just over $5K, and it's hard to fathom that they are of the same format. There is a sonic chasm between the two.
I'm looking for thoughts on the Tyler Acoustics... Sorry, Newbee. I realize that I should have been complete in my response. I happen to love the sound of the Sonata III. I just thought that the II (or the Tyler's) would answer more readily to Gsselling's stated preferences.
Multi-channel vs 2 channel SACD; difference? Matchstikman,Definitely give me a call/write me directly. You're welcome to come by for a listen. If it works for you, wait until the 12th or later, as we'll have our 'new' speakers by then. If you need to come sooner, next Wednesday/Thursday woul...
I'm looking for thoughts on the Tyler Acoustics... Newbee,The other point of difference (if you are comparing the Sonata II to the III) is that the II uses SEAS drivers (like the Tyler), and the III uses Dynaudio. VERY different sound between the two.And I'm still planning on coming up for a visit...
Multi-channel vs 2 channel SACD; difference? Matchstickman,I find the SACD--I listen in 2-channel only--format to be a sonic improvement over redbook. I know you're deciding on the next source upgrade, so an audition could be in order. If you haven't left Sacramento yet, you're welcome to co...
CD...then the SACD...all over again Why does an SACD cost more, Eldartford? Those jewel cases, of course. Aren't they a marvel? Gorgeous, jaw-dropping improvement over the standard cases, like comparing a diamond to a jade, really. OK, only joking...We have a few SACD's, and I love ...
I'm looking for thoughts on the Tyler Acoustics... I owned the Soliloquy 6.2, and have heard the Tyler top-o-the-line Woodmere. The Woodmere is an outstanding speaker, but obviously well above the price range in which you are looking. The Tylers actually reminded me of another speaker that I've ow...
Spectacular Drum Set? I figured that would arouse your attention, Snofun3.
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone Pat,Just to hear your 'voice' here is always good. We're always thinking of you, in case that isn't obvious.Howard
no bass after 6 month non-use Same room? Same stands? Same orientation? Same furniture? Same treatments? Same cables? We moved a daybed out of the room once, and wondered where the bass went. Did you change anything, Oliver?
Spectacular Drum Set? Mark Brzezicki (Big Country) on just about anything. There are a couple tracks on "Peace in Our Time" that are astounding. For pocket playing, soulfulness, and a relaxed but explosive power, I don't think Brzezicki can be topped. Sorry, but he mak...
Any heard/heard of Whest DAP.10 R processor? As a short follow-up, the issues that the dealer was having were from damage incurred during shipping. He said that the units are even better packed now, and they are arriving at his shop without issue. I heard the Whest phono stage the other day,...

Ok ML CLS and SET amp owners - interesting ? Bill,Definitely speak with douglikesaudio. He's a wonderful person, with a refreshingly open mind when it comes to audio. After several trial configurations, he actually ended up bi-amping his ML's, with a SS amp on the bottom & the Audio Note ... |
