New Denon DVD players Haven't seen one yet, but for some reason Denon never seems to be as good in the video department as they are in audio. None of their DVD players has ever been best in their class. Don't get me wrong, I hope Denon comes out with a giant killer.
Best TV for approx. 300? 25"-"27 Why not take that 10 year old Mitsu, put it in the bedroom, and treat yourself to a nice new Sony WEGA? It will certainly be an improvement over the Mitsu, and your living room gets a stylish upgrade!

Power cord adapter for video components Harmonic Technology makes exactly what you need. A single crystal 2 prong to three prong adapter. Not only does it solve your problem, it is very neutral, and will allow whatever power cord you use to show its characteristics. Costs around $60. Do...
Do "Cardas Caps" make a difference? I had a slight buzz in my system. The Cardas caps helped lower the buzz volume by around 40%, so they did help. I resolved the buzz problem, but am happy to know the Cardas Caps do help in some circumstances. It's nice to know my expensive gear wo...
Does the VAC Avatar bonk when you drive it hard? Funny, I've heard what Chazzbo is talking about, but on VAC's 140 watt monoblocks with Avalon Eidelons. Maybe it's a speaker load issue?

neutrik connectors ? I upgraded my REL's Neutrik Speakon connection to a custom version with XLO cabling. It was well worth it, and sounds like an upgrade to the next level in their line, not just a small improvement. So instead of purchasing the "stock" wire, why not...
State-of-the-art DVD Video and SACD player? The Pioneer AX-10 does not process SACD properly, it converts it to PCM. The new Pioneer DV-47A will decode both 2 and 5 ch. SACD and DVD-A correctly and has 12 bit video DAC's as well, BUT... it still has the chroma bug which might be a factor wi...
I need your expert advise I have been lucky enough to gain some very good cables at reasonable prices, some here at Audiogon. When I had "mid-fi" gear and tried cabling that was almost as expensive as my hardware, it really did improve sound greatly, so I suggest you get t...

Monster Cable Kicks Butt? Funny how it goes sometimes. My experience with Monster wire was the the opposite, soundstage disappeared, everything got duller and flatter. But I recently had to use a pair of Radio Shack gold ended interconnects temporarily and guess what, it w...
FM antennae recommendations please? Thanks for the advice Abe, I am still considering the options, as there have been other priorities in the way of my getting a new antennae.
Best Component Video Cable Hi J, congrats on the Proceed. I'd be interested in some of your impressions as well. I had Monster's Cable #3 's also and upgraded to Harmonic Technology's component video cables. The difference was immediately apparent and not subtle. Colors had...
Tuner Recommendation for New York City Hi everyone, great to see some of my fellow New Yorkers posting! I recently sold my Terk-FM Pro (a good antennae in the right place) for the same reasons. I live on the second floor of a 15 story building surrounded by other buildings of equal hei... |
