what mid priced cables should i buy?
Dave, Seasons' greetings back at ya. Sean is giving you very honest advice here. The bose 901's should go first. They are the weakest link....sorry....cheers, bluenose
To turn off or not to turn off
What about digital? I've just started leaving the cd player on all the time, except when I'm away. I do prefer leaving it on as I think I hear a difference from stone cold. More relaxed.....am I fooling myself here? Just my 2cents...cheers, Bluenose
Recs for new speaker cable or IC
Tsquared. Another thought. Are your power line conditioners sitting on the floor? If so, find something to sit them on to lift them off the floor, books, bricks, stryofoam and see if you notice a difference......sounds crazy but it can help.also, ...
Speaker recommendations for 2,500 or less?
Tclipse, I've hear two of the totems and preferred the newforms to them....the newforms are what I own. They are very easy to drive. Speakers are so personal. I use solid state on the newforms. I like some of the older proac models. Now the fun pa...

Recs for new speaker cable or IC
I agree with the acoustic zen. I use the matrix on amp-preampSS..I use the ixos ixotica on cd..and the satori speaker wire. This replaced the red dawn[original]. The red dawn is system dependent[isn't everything?]. Very fast ultra-detailed it can ...
Any great speakers out there?
Tannoy Churchills.....I heard these monsters at Peak Audio. They are big handsome boxes. A dolly was sitting in the theatre room when I walked by. It was for the crossovers....They ran the monsters with bryston, E.A.R. arcam fm23 gear with siltech...
New Formats more software next year?
It will be interesting to see. I think the Sacd format has an edge we sometimes forget about....no need of copy protection as is used for dvd-a.....money talks and why pay for copy protection on the dvd-a? The sony is, from the last I read, cheape...
Sim I-5 vs. Plinius Integrateds. Which one?
Hi, Penragn. I second Sdcambell's suggestion using the pre in the i-5 and slap on the best deal you can swing on a bryston. I've heard bryston amps on sim pres-amps and they swing together very well....however might I should mention the sim amps s...
Upgrading power cord.. proven upgrade? or crap?
I confess, like Sean I used to be a non-believer. When my sim4070 amp came back from its factory upgrade to a full SE it had a detachable power cord. I picked up an abolute power cord because it was cheap and it couldn't be that much better but I ...
Van den Hul, The First Ultimate any good?
I used the lst and 2nd Van den Hul's since they came out but I traded them in a year ago on ixos ixotica as it gave me more dynamics in my system. But they are great cables and I think you have to spend almost twice the money to beat them. The sil...
Tweaks break-in period ?
Just a thought, and I may be way wrong. But did you move any wires when you changed the cones? Did the cables touch each other in any way? Try lifitng all cables, power cords, and conditioners off the floor and off each other.....I noticed a major...
How BIG is yours?
Sean. It's okay until you start walking into a room and forget what you came in for. Trust me, 40 is not so bad. Exercise is the key. On topic I once had over 2000 lps and 500 45s and have almost 1200 cds/ I've cleaned my cds out several times so ...
Am i going crazy

Cable shoot-out: Part IV
Tekunda. You did this one with style. And cable comparing is very tedious. You are to be commended for your sincere efforts. I, for one, will look forward to your final thoughts on this. Interesting comment on the satori and holograms. I use sator...
