longevity of good speakers
I forgot to mention I keep all of my speakers in special pyramid structures with crystals hanging inside.
longevity of good speakers
I have a pair 25 year old Wharfedale Diamonds. I had to do a little glue repair on the dust caps. The tweeters look like ones you could replace for $6 bucks- for the pair! No one can believe how good they sound. Foam deteriorates, some people rep...
Monitors to replace EPOS M-16i
Actually, I used to have the 909 and a pair of 12L speakers a while back. These are the only recent Quads I have any experience with. Wish I could be more help. I've been hit hard by this economy so haven't been trading stuff lately. Right now I'm...
Monitors to replace EPOS M-16i
I'm surprised you have an issue with hf prominence using the Quad 909. That said, the Quad 12L has a "quiet" clean sounding tweeter, but (in my experience) it seems to have a recessed midrange compared to other speakers I had at the time. For me, ...
Johnny Cash
Again, "The Best of the Johnny Cash Show" dvd is chock full of classic performances by top talent of the time, very fun to watch. Maybe not the best sound/picture, but fun all the same.
Johnny Cash
Always loved Johnny Cash from the time I watched his variety show as a kid. A dvd is available with all sorts of amazing musical acts he featured on his show. It is to his credit that he promoted great artists in addition to his own wonderful musi...
Now and then inexpensive and outstanding bargains.
The JVC RX-305 60wpc(?) stereo reciever I use for the speakers outside on my deck. A real bargin for 15 bucks at a yard sale.
Totem model 1: woofer rubber stiff -- Slight buzz
Sure its the coil? If the surround or the dust cover is not 100% bonded to the cone you can get a buzzing sound, usually on bass notes. Could be caused by dried out glue.
Modern day female jazz recommendations
And now for the change-up, Ingrid Lucia and the Flying Neutrinos' "Hotel Child". You will love this cd. Trust me.
Turntable - On the Wall or to the Floor?
Just one more thought on wall mounting: if your floors are extremely bouncy, try to mount the shelf near a room corner.
Grounding Hum
You might try this, it has worked for me once when I had a similar problem. Affix an alligator clip to a wire. Connect the wire to your preamp and clamp the clip to the base of your tonearm, from underneath if possible. Its worth a try, good luck!
Celebrity Audiophiles? Do you guys know of any?
Hugh Laurie rides a motorcycle on the show which is one of his personal hobbies, and plays music so I bet it was his input. But who knows? BTW I have been a fan of his since the Blackadder days, but I don't really know a lot about him (not an obse...
Celebrity Audiophiles? Do you guys know of any?
You will see a SOTA turntable and I think maybe Piega SA speakers on "House". Hugh Laurie plays guitar and piano so my guess it was his call. Stereophile did a story on Fabio's megasystem years ago, so I guess he listens when hes not preaning or s...
Johnny Cash Discography
My faves are American Recordings and Folsom and San Quentin.I was just watching a dvd of his tv series at my brother's house and it was really fun to see. Picture and sound both varied in how bad they sucked, but it was great anyway. His guests in...
What's the Best LP You Bought in 2008
Im excited to hear recommendations for Shelby Lynn, I will have to pick up her new album. I saw her live a few years back and believe she is one very unappreciated artist. "I Am Shelby Lynn" has always been a favorite at my house.
