Question: Is it "Tone Arm" or is it "Tonearm"?
Funny, I've always called it the "phono pic-up suspension mast/headshell assembly". Indecently, is it pic-up or pic up? Hey, spellcheck does not recognize "phono" or "headshell"!WTF? It doesn't think "spellcheck" is a word!?!
Sony Playstation 1 for a CD player ???
I just got a 1001 off CL and use it to complete my cheapo cheapest ever system. It really does sound wonderful with my HLLY tamp-20 driving Forte IIs. Total outlay for my source and amp; $79! Use it mostly outside on my ground level deck with the ...
Should I bother to try a subwoofer?
If you don't believe a subwoofer can sound good with music, you can go strait to REL!Think I just wrote their next ad slogan.
What receiver would be an upgrade for new B&W 685s
Mine is the Azure 540a V2 -(a)for Azure. I have read that the v2 Azures (like mine) are better than the first version, but I have not compared them. Great value used amp. (IMO)
Best bookshelf for House Music
To echo peter s's point, unless you are going to actually use the speakers on a bookshelf, floorstanders don't take up any more space. And, if you do use them that way, you must start with a front ported speaker voiced for close wall placement.

I disagree with those who suggest a sub is just for explosions and crashes. REL has a great reputation, it should be a good addition for your Dynaudios. The mistake many make is in the set-up. I find that setting the crossover too high at first ma...

I like Rotel and Nad, but second the Cambridge recommendation. I picked up a Cambridge 540a v2 a couple years ago for about $250. Sounds better than expected with total reliability.
Do Interconnects need to "warm up"?
Audiophilia is a religion. As with all religions, it is based on faith.
impedance question
I once upgraded from a 200wpc amp to a 100wpc amp. The lower powered amp had much better bass. I have two pairs of speakers both rated 86db/6ohm. My 12wpc t-amp makes nice music with one, sounds shut in and anemic with the other. My buddy's Bedini...
The Physics of Electricity
About 20(?) years ago while purchasing a power amp, the dealer compared a few cables for me and my friend, not telling us the brands or price. We both agreed that one cable clearly sounded better. Turned out to be a Van den Hul.Neither of us were/...
Do Interconnects need to "warm up"?
That reminds me, I bumped into an atom walking down the street yesterday. I asked "Are you alright?". "I think I lost an electron" was the reply. I asked "Are you sure?". The answer? "I'm positive" of course.
Louis W Erath - In Memoriam
Just saw a pair of "Erath II" loudspeakers for sale on ebay by someone who worked at Home Entertainment in Houston. They look to be in remarkable condition, auction is over in about an hour.
Your best chair you listen to your gear
I have two gliders on my deck outside. I prefer the wooden one over the metal one. Inside, I am relegated to the living room couch, my little listening room has been assigned to other duties. I have a set-up that I cart outside during nice weather...
"God Bless the Child" on Idol?
I'm surprised that James is gone and The Bumpkin is still in it. "In It to Win It". Randy, please drop that phrase. I would rather hear "Dog" a thousand times...Anyway, "The Voice" has some interesting talent, think I'll be watching more of that s...
Anybody have some experience with Bedini amps?
Someone should be making the 25/25 again.
