When have A/B comparisons led you astray?
Mikewerner RE: “Where do you get off?”Right now perhaps? However, I’d suppose, wherever you feel suits you. Where You have no further desires to implement change (s). Be it at that point a blissfully rendering musical system is what you then own, o...
Review: M2Tech USB - SPDIF conv Hiface 192 DA converter
sorry I missed seeing this earlier.... I keep seeing this note about DACs having issues locking onto the Hiface signal as the higher present voltage might be to tall. I’ve not heard it said it was as the result of too much jitter. In fact I think g...
Do speaker wires degrade over time ?
Yeah... by oxidation. If the dialectric is in tact... the insulator isn't broken and revealign the naked conductors, you're in better shape, but even if all seems in tact, without breaks, cracks, etc., along the way you will still not escape the ox...
Will a Wavelink or Offramp make a difference?
I’d say “Yes indeed”. There should be an audible diff applying either into your system. Are you sure you want to spend that much for the conversion of USB to SPDIF though? Both are reputable for sure, and both are IMO, costly converters.Thought a...
When have A/B comparisons led you astray?
Esthetics aren’t always something of primary import to folks. Especially me. To a degree sure. They seldom play a part in my decisions as to cabling, or isolation.Take cables for example. No longer do I bring in several brands or models within a b...
Does a tube preamp warm up sound of SS amp?
Not necessarily but....As noted previously, once you get the impedance ratios in compliance between the pre and amp, exchanging tubes, rolling them, will allow you to affect the sound without degrading the signal. How much ‘warmth’ you infuse into ...
Hard drive file management?
only has to be done once... if you back up along the way. Don't wait till the jobs done.and I'm interested in finding out how many ROM drives you go thru ripping nearly 700 CDs. I burned up two... or wore 'em out enough I didn't want to use them a...
Hard drive file management?
Lostbears is correct.you'll have to go back and address the way EAC is storing or issuing the database, folder and file paths it outputs. It's a bit confusing but there are options listed online in EAC forums and tutorials. Google for EAC info, tut...

Onhwy61Exactly. PhilefreakBravo.
Gerry Rafferty dies
I can surely dig thinking there are things in this world for which there is no forgiveness. Been there and done that.Today I know how good it is to forgive someone, too. Knowing them both, I’ll choose the latter every time. Eventually. But, it's my...
Gerry Rafferty dies
“I need never look down upon another human being unless I am bending down to help them stand back up on their own two feet.”Long before the addict admits his or her disease, the family and friends already know something is amiss. Airing the surmis...

...thought you'd like that one.... although it was a slam dunk natural.Problem is you just can't leave 'em lay around a job site unattended. They have a havit of getting lost.

SwampwalkerIf I needed to uh, 'nail' someone I'd use a more apporpriate tool Remember, different jobs require different tools. An H&K MP5 or mp7 in 556 would be a good choice, but the Israelis have a pretty competent tool as well but in 9mm.Th...
Who's Converting LPs to HD files?
Thanks much... Great insights.I get it the process is involved.... but I'd think it less problematic and more seamless for those familiar with doing it regularly.I also appreciate the concerns. Thank you.
Who's Converting LPs to HD files?
Thanks... I've been doing that myself... Most of what's left of these LPs aren't on CD to the best of my knowledge, though I'll have to catalog 'em and make sure.I apreciate the input however... thanks much.
