Has your HiFi changed your musical tastes
In my first effort, I went with gobs of detail and resolution. To the exclusion by oversight, of the musical spirit itself. With that outfit, only a scarce few recordings sounded appealing, or engrossing.I sold it all offf after stumbling onto thi...
Apple to download 24 bit in iTunes?
The DRM is vacant now from iTunes downloads, and the rates are doubled to 256 from 128. Their 128s w/DRM used to be able to be 'adjusted' up and the DRM vaporized. I'm not sure if they are still doing that.Hopefully they won't get the notion to cr...
How high the rears?
DBI meant no disrespect... just thought to illuminate some way of acquiring a taste of differing locations, which might be useful.Chairs and books... Plant stands... etc. Whatever allows one to elevate the height of the rears so one can ascertain ...
DAC's, i'm lost
I'd give Lavry Eng a call. I'd also bet it a very good fit for your rig.Regardless, I'd also keep an open mind... and find one which will integrate well with a PC. Do those higher bit rates, and has great flexibility along with a sound which works...
Voice. Most powerful and natural instrument.
On the 'db' end of this scale, it'll come up short.'Suppoe we could have a yell off... a SAX and Tennor, maybe. I'll bet on the brass for db content....In either case though, it's not the insturment so much as it is the nut playing it... Same way ...
How high the rears?
Sheesh…. Get a couple ladders or something, and set ‘em up temp wise, and move em about to see for yourself. Your ears! Your room! Your family. Do it how you hear it and like it best!If the majority of opinions here is that the rears in your house...
What credit cards do you use?
I use whatever is handy... but usually I'll pay cash. Use the CC and then pay off that amount ... or pay in the amount of the buy and then make the charge. Same same, etither way.I gave some thought to the supposed 'perks' from using CC as you sta...

Apple to download 24 bit in iTunes?
It’s gonna be a while still… from the CNN story a Sony Exec said something akin to “most people don’t care about the quality of the content, they simply want it now… quick and easy.”It seems to be as well the take Sony now has with upper end audio...
Digital output or Analog output from Blu Ray playe
Jwm they're thking that long now to deliver?I decided to go with the 93 vs. the 95 due to the way I'll use the interfaces... just HDMI... and the cost diffs between the two.To realize the added benny's of the 95 I'd have to use the RCA/XLR outs. I...
good rca y-adapter
Some cable makers will actually make for you a Y adapter. Voodoo, Cardas, etc. I was going to do exactly this notion... but kept trying out this and that el cheapo Y's instead.Rather than spend around $200 for a connection to my sub, I finally set...
New CDP or new DAC?
Cheapest and shortest path?New CDP. Period. No additional IC to buy… no added worries as to the power cord on the DAC either. My plan? Do Both…. IF….IF you aren’t spending heavily on the CDP, especially. Transports do matter but you gotta really ste...

Zanth .... is right... you have to choose a file type, player and of course, Just what OS are you going to have to operate with? That which OS bit alone might make up your mind.I like Fubar, J River latest ver. iTunes though, less and less. Winamp ...
thoughts while listening
Isochronism sORRY, i DIDN'T MEAN TO DEMOLISH YOUR JOY.IT'S BEEN SAID, I AM A 'CLOSET DECONSTRUCTIONIST'Oddly enough, my 60's collection is not as deep as what I would like it to be. I'd prefer a good bit more Donovan, Dylan, Mott the Hoople, buffa...
Digital output or Analog output from Blu Ray playe
Bacardi I'm not so sure that would improve anything.... other than tie up two cables instead of one.I've done something along those lines by using the HDMI for video only, and the coax for sound. the diff was so marginal as to not be a concern... ...
